In 2014, Evan and Aubrey separately signed up to go on a Birthright trip! Whether through luck of the draw or divine intervention, the two were placed on the same trip. While they did not talk throughout the trip much, all changed when they got to the airport to go home. When in line to check baggage for the flight, Evan was in front of Aubrey in line. He turned around and asked Aubrey if she would sit with him on the plane. When she said yes, he insisted they pretend that they were on their honeymoon! Aubrey gladly played along. Shortly thereafter, their flight was delayed and Aubrey started to freak out. Evan stayed by her side and helped her find a phone to call home. Throughout the 26-hour journey home, Evan and Aubrey got to know each other and their journey together started! And the rest is history!

On June 22, 2018, Evan had planned a date for the two to go to Clyde's in Columbia, MD. Situated on a lake, Clyde's is one of Aubrey and Evan's favorite restaurants. When the two arrived, Evan insisted that the two take a walk around the lake. Aubrey was very confused because it was raining and she wanted to go inside, but Evan insisted. Aubrey finally agreed. As they were walking around, Evan stopped at a point that overlooked the lake and told Aubrey how much he loved her. He got down on one knee and popped the question! Aubrey was thrilled and hugged Evan and said yes!
