Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Sarah Gray and Tyler Schovanec
If you are traveling to Austin for our wedding, here are some of our favorite things to do for the rest of your Memorial Day Weekend!

Our Favorite Restaurants

Perla’s Aba Terry Black’s Wu Chow Matt’s El Rancho Mattie’s Mozart’s Coffee Cosmic Coffee Because Austin is a large city and our wedding is during Memorial Day Weekend, we recommend making reservations in advance if the restaurant allows it.

Town Lake (aka Lady Bird Lake)

Austin, TX

Town Lake has a great trail for biking, walking, or running. You can also rent a paddle board, kayak, or a canoe if you want to get out on the water. We have linked a website for watercraft rentals on Town Lake here, but there are several other places as well.

South Congress

South Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78704

South of Town Lake with a great view of the Capitol building, South Congress has many coffee shops, restaurants, boutiques, and hotels.

Rainey Street Historic District

Rainey Street, Austin, TX 78701

In the corner of Downtown Austin, Rainey Street has residential homes that have been turned into bars. Because many of the bars have great patios, live music, and food truck options, Rainey Street is popular both during the day and at night.

Barton Springs Municipal Pool

2201 William Barton Drive, Austin, TX 78746

Barton Springs Pool is a public swimming pool fed by underground springs, and it stays 68-70 degrees all year long.

Sixth Street

Sixth Street, Austin, Texas

Sixth Street has many bars and restaurants, but we like Rustic Tap on West Sixth Street, and Whisler’s on East Sixth Street.

Bats at Congress Avenue Bridge

100 South Congress Street, Austin, Texas 78704

The Congress Avenue Bridge is home to the largest bat colony in Texas. The bats depart from the bridge each night approximately 30-60 minutes before sunset. You can view the bats for free by standing on the bridge, or in a bat viewing area located on the southeast corner of Congress Bridge and Town Lake.

San Marcos River

2024 North Old Bastrop Hwy, San Marcos, TX 78666
, 5126387165

About 35 minutes south of Austin, you can rent a tube and float the San Marcos River. It will be busy Memorial Day Weekend, which would be fun! You most likely would need to book your tube reservation in advance. The website link and address listed is for a popular tube rental company at the San Marcos River. The Guadalupe River is another popular option for floating.
