Airports - LAX & Burbank

LAX is probably cheaper & the most direct route to get to LA. The ride from the airport to Hollywood is usually $35 & the longest we have waited for a pick up is around 12 minutes. Please see Lyft/Uber section for details. Burbank (BUR) has an airport also, so if you are staying in Pasadena, Burbank, Glendale, Studio City, or close to the valley it might make sense to fly into that airport. The rate is usually slightly higher, but if you are considering taking an uber/lyft from LAX airport the cost would probably be around $50-$60 for the ride all the way to the valley. We have never used that airport, but I do hear that most flights aren't direct. CAR RENTAL If you are planning on renting a car be extra aware & careful because the highways are chaotic at best! Lots of lanes & fast driving, motorcyclists weaving in & out, & somewhat confusing directions. Expect 45 min drive to Hollywood from LAX.

Getting Around LA - Lyft / Uber

We highly recommend downloading the "Uber" and "Lyft" apps. If you have never used these apps, download them and in promo section put in code ("SAMANTHA13" for $10 free credit for LYFT & "qr11p" for UBER, that's two "ones" in that Uber code) follow the app prompts and enter email, payment information, etc. and you are all set. Now just put in your starting location or used the suggested location it gives you, if at airport it should be something like "section B, section D" and look for round sign (see photo above) that you are at the correct location. After add your ending location and it will locate a driver nearby and give you the license plate number, color, and make of car picking you up. This is the fastest most effective way to get around LA if you are not renting a car for the weekend.

Accommodations

"Hollywood" can get pricey with hotels. Airbnb might be a good option, just do research on that specific area & what is around. LA Neighborhoods

"Studio City" Close to Hollywood & you are getting closer to the valley so the prices are cheaper. Family friendly area & has a cute little downtown area with good food & shops. Jump on the 101 & you are back in Hollywood in 15 min. "West Hollywood" Very clean, the most walkable & safe of all the neighborhoods, nice stores & restaurants all close by. Lots of LGBTQ people out & about. Can get very pricey. Next door to Hollywood, you'll be back in Hollywood in 10 min. "Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena" Considered the valley. 25-30 min from Hollywood. Think families, shopping malls, & corporate eats like Chilis. The valley is more affordable than West Hollywood or Hollywood usually & should have a wide variety for hotels & Airbnbs.
