At work one day Cory was approached by Janae's aunt Nichole at work saying "Would you like to go on a date with my niece" Janae remembers receiving a text saying "Hey it's Cory, I work with your aunt and she gave me your number" Their first date, Janae watched out the window for Cory to arrive after changing several times. After seeing his car pull up she ran to meet him, though she was extremely startled that he was in her driveway about to come to the door to meet her followed by Cory rushing to open the car door for her. Arriving at Evviva Cucina in Westford MA Cory was a little fascinated and taken aback by how much she talked, in particular, how she was so open about her fear of birds and a strong dislike for fruits and vegetables. Janae was overwhelmed by how polite he was, opening her doors & pulling out her chairs he was pulling out all the stops. Nevertheless, both were extremely comfortable with one another. They talked the entire time about their families, their jobs and what they did for fun. Cory went into detail about growing up in Maine, how he recently moved to New Hampshire and didn't do much but work or take off for drill weekends. Janae promised him she would take him on a "tour" of New Hampshire, that he didn't get until 3 years and a pandemic later. The couple would take Sunday drives on backroads and venture out for their coffee and breakfast. They would share their favorite music, talk about places they'd like to go and everything in between.

Cory planned a vacation to their favorite place, Nashville TN. After their first trip down, they decided this time they would would drive. After several months of careful preparations, and a custom made ring hiding in a jacket pocket they were off for a 17HR road trip. Janae had the car packed with snacks and roadtrip essentials making Cory extremely anxious anytime she'd reach back into the bags where the ring was tucked away. On the way down Cory was planning for the perfect scenario, the infamous walking bridge in Downtown Nashville overlooking the city. After checking in to their Air BnB, Cory watched Janae unpack every bag and grew more nervous she would find the ring. They began to get ready for their dinner date and he decided it was now or never. Cory began to anxiously pace and locked himself in the bathroom for an extended period of time. In the hustle of getting ready for dinner he called Janae into the kitchen and dropped to one knee.
