Nick and I met at Westmont during the pandemic in March 2021- I had graduated the year prior and was working as a contact tracer. Nick was finishing up his senior year and also played soccer at Westmont. We would begin crossing paths once a week when he would come in for Covid testing before his games. As time went on, Nick would linger at my desk where we would talk and share playful banter. It is worth noting that Nick's version of this story is that I was flirting with him the whole time and memorized his birthday (this is not true). Nick would soon follow me on social media and respond to my instagram story where I shared a screenshot of the song 'Leave the door open' by Silk Sonic (how fitting). After messaging back and forth, Nick asked me if I'd want to go on a date with him and it was my 2nd most important 'Yes' next to Nick asking me to marry him. On our first date, I took Nick to Rincon beach where we watched the sunset and ended up spending over 4 hours together just talking. Although Nick and I are very different people, during our first date we found how meaningful our similarities are. At the time, graduation was approaching in May, and Nick had accepted a job offer which would require him to move to Connecticut. With this massive change very quickly approaching, although it felt scary to keep seeing each other, we both felt a deep confidence in what we were building together. On the day of Nick's graduation, Nick asked me to be his girlfriend. Later in the year, Nick would dodge the move to Connecticut and accept a new job that would allow him to stay working remotely in California (I was thrilled about this, obviously).Between then and now, Nick and I have lived so much life with one another- we would take multiple trips together, spend many holidays with each other's families, we would live in multiple cities together, and even share our dog, Olive. On April 26th, 2025 in the city where our story began, Nick proposed to me on a cliffside at Naples point beach in Santa Barbara where I gave the most important 'Yes' of my life. As easily as we said ‘yes’ to a lifetime together, we said 'yes' to choosing you, our favorite people to help us celebrate and support us on the best and most important day of our lives.
