Walk through the flour mill ruins and across the Stone Arch Bridge to see expansive views of the Minneapolis skyline, the Mississippi River, powerful St. Anthony Falls, and the impressive lock and dam system.
Stop by the boat launch at Bde Maka Ska and rent a bike or canoe (weather permitting) to explore the famous Chain of Lakes right here in the heart of the city, comprised of five lakes - Bde Maka Ska, Harriet, Cedar, Brownie, and Lake of the Isles. Walking or driving around looking at all the beautiful, historic homes is always a blast, too.
Stop by Jules' old neighborhood to see the iconic Spoonbridge and Cherry fountain and other unique modern art at the Walker Art Museum and adjacent sculpture garden. Use the walking bridge to cross over I-94 and take a walk through Loring Park, which is basically like the Central Park of Minneapolis.
While you're in Loring Park, drop by Gai Noi (where Jules used to work) to try delicious and authentic Laotian cuisine. This family-style spot was named one of the New York Times' Best Restaurants in America of 2023. The decor and views are stunning, and the basil wings are unbeatable.
Good brews and great views! Stroll along the Mississippi River after stopping by one of our favorite local breweries that serves food, too.
This huge, nationally recognized brewery offers delicious food, games and live music, and tours with tastings. Your bar back home might even have some Surly on tap.
One of our favorite date night spots in a gorgeous, historic hotel and saloon built in 1893.
This is another one of our favorite date spots right on the river, with amazing views of the Minneapolis skyline from their patio and tasty plates from their eclectic menu.
Grab a pint and give some lawn bowling a go on the rooftop of this iconic football pub on downtown's Nicollet Mall. You might even run into a few of our friends working the floor before they head over to our wedding!
On the first floor of the Foshay Tower you'll find great brunch at Keys Cafe. Then, hop on the elevator and grab a cocktail at Prohibition bar before checking out the sweeping city views on the observation deck.
Even if you don't have time to catch a show, make sure to stop by the iconic First Avenue venue to take a picture with the Prince star!
The Twins probably won't be playing at this point in the year, but the Timberwolves could have a pre-season game going on! We absolutely love living so close to major sports stadiums, and try to catch as many games as possible every season.
It's a bit out of the way, but for anyone looking to try an iconic Minnesotan "Juicy Lucy," Matt's Bar is the spot. The only spot. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. And DON'T bite into it right away, or you WILL burn your tongue off.
Got a little time for brunch and bowling? We absolutely love Elsie's, and spend a lot of time here as Justin perfects his bowling game.
Need to do some last-minute shopping, or just want to cross it off your bucket list? The MoA is obviously a can't-miss for non-Minnesotans.
Your best bet for finding all the little things you forgot to pack is the downtown Target on Nicollet Mall.
