Logan and Sonya met in Kimberley, Canada at the Kimberly International Old Time Accordion Championships (lovingly known as KIOTAC) at the respective ages of 12 and 11. We competed in many of the same age categories and saw a lot of each other during the week of competitions. There was an immediate close connection between us and it continued that way year after year, summer after summer. Sonya lived in Oregon and Logan lived in Montana and for one glorious week each summer we got to spend time together. During the year we would communicate via email (Sonya's first email was accordionfanatic@gmail.com thank you 12 year old me....) and then eventually via texting with cell phones (Because we were one of the last age groups of kids that actually watched texting/cell phones evolve wow!). Though KIOTAC sadly was no more the year Sonya turned 16 and the summer meet ups ended, Sonya still called Logan on his birthday every year through highschool and college. In December of 2021 Sonya decided to go visit Logan to ring in the New Year in beautiful snowy Montana. On January 3rd 2022 Logan got up the courage to ask her if she would be his girlfriend (after waiting the better part of 6 years to ask as we'd both dated other people). Logan moved out to Oregon to be with Sonya and help her renovate her newly purchased project house. Clearly we made a good team because in February of 2024 Logan proposed in beautiful, snowy Ginzan, Japan.
