We're getting married!

We met at Westgate in 2013. We began chatting and flirting harmlessly. Sonnya gave Shawn her number for him to call her... no avail! She boldly told him one day that the purpose of giving him her number was so he could use it! Sonnya messaged Shawn on facebook & told him she'd like to get to know him and hang out. He agreed and we went hiking on our first get together since we both love outdoors! We had our first date December 15, 2013 at the island and became an official exclusive couple February 13, 2014. We then moved in together in June 2014.

Since we love to be outdoors and hiking, we go to seven islands quite a bit. They were in the process of building a new bridge over the water to one of the islands, which we were excited to check out. Shawn had waited and waited for it to be completed and the project's completion date was pushed back. He had designed and ordered the ring and had it in a shoe box about 1 foot from Sonnya's feet for just over a month!! We went to seven islands on November 25, 2018 with Shawn's secret intention to propose one way or another. While on the drive, he prayed the right location to be available if the bridge was not completed yet... low and behold the bridge still unopened, but a brand new trail up to the ridge with a park view was open!! We hiked to the top, joked around about marriage and engagement and did our normal joking when Shawn spun around and got on on knee and asked "So, will you marry me?!" Of course, Sonnya said yes!!

We love to be outdoors and in nature. Most of the time we try our best to be out in the wonderful world God made for us to enjoy! We love to travel, even if our budget does not allow us to travel as often or to the places we want to. Shawn enjoys watching television in his spare time, while Sonnya works on school work and planning various things! Our favorite places to eat are Aubrey's, Texas Road house, Kiko's, and Gondolier. We enjoy doing couple massages when we can, they are so relaxing!
