The Beginning of Us

Classmates to Soulmates

Some love stories are written by fate long before they truly begin. Ours started back in school, when we were classmates from 5th to 7th grade—when Sohil quietly held a crush on me, one I knew nothing about at the time. Years later, during the stillness of the COVID lockdown, in the blessed month of Ramadan, life brought us back together. While Sohil was in Pune, a simple “hello” on WhatsApp turned into endless conversations, late-night calls, and a connection that felt like it had always been there. What I didn’t realize then was just how much I meant to Sohil. With quiet determination and a heart full of love, he grew, changed, and worked tirelessly to become the man he wanted to be—not just for himself, but to win my heart and my family’s too. And he did, in the most beautiful way. Across cities—Hyderabad to Pune—and then across continents when I moved to the United States, our love only grew stronger. Through every distance and every challenge, Sohil stood by me with patience, strength, and unwavering love. On June 15th, 2025, in the heart of New York City, Sohil created a moment I will cherish forever. In Central Park, surrounded by my family, he planned the most surreal proposal—thoughtful, magical, and everything I had ever dreamed of. In that moment, overwhelmed with happiness and emotion, I said yes to the love of my life. But I couldn’t let him be the only one to plan something special. Knowing how much Sohil loves the water, I planned a surprise just for him—an intimate proposal by the shores of Galveston Beach. It was my way of telling him that he is just as cherished, just as loved, and just as special to me. From childhood memories to a lifetime of love, here we are—ready to begin our forever together.
