Her Eyes: July 1st, 2017: A day I'll never forget. Not because it was the day I would meet my future husband, but because it was the day I had to give my puppy away. Just kidding Shobin! About a month before, my brother had brought home a puppy without telling my parents, and of course they were upset. They would tell us every day that we had to find another home for him, but he was still a part of our family for a little while. On July 1st, my brother and I were planning to go to a boat party that my cousin Jasmine had invited us to. We had bought tickets ahead of time, but it was on the day of the party that we ended up giving Tyson away. We both were so sad and didn’t feel like attending, but as we had already bought the tickets, we ended up going. Towards the end of the party, I went to enjoy the beautiful views of the city since the night was almost over. I was then rudely interrupted by some guy, the same guy who said hi to me earlier on the dance floor. We talked for the rest of the party until the cruise came to an end. As I was leaving the boat, he stopped me and asked for my number. And with that, Shobin and I began talking a few days later, yes it did take me a few days to respond to him 😬. What started out as a sad evening led to one of the best days of my life and an indescribable relationship, and the rest is history! His Eyes: So I just started a new job and was going be assigned to the night shift. I was invited to a friend's boat party and I said I'd go just to make the most of my last Sat night for a while. Before the party, I'm hanging out with some friends having great time and I’m thinking to myself man I really don’t want to go. I just want to relax and chill. I already paid for the ticket so I end up going. At the party I see some old friends there. I see this girl in a pinkish colored dress who immediately caught my attention. I go to my 2 friends and I ask who she is. They told me that her name was Sonia and she may or may not be single. She may have been talking to someone but they weren't sure. Then I see this guy with her and I’m thinking “Oh man. That’s probably the guy they were talking about.” The party goes on, and I see her dancing. So I was just like “Eh let me just introduce myself. What’s the worst that could happen?” So I go and introduce myself briefly. The interaction was maybe 10-20 secs. The night goes on and sadly, I just can’t keep my eyes off her. Now it’s towards the end of the night. We have maybe 10 minutes left at this boat party and my friends from before noticed that I had still been looking at her. They came up to me and say “Why don’t you just talk to her?” I responded “She has a man and he’s right there. I can’t do that.” My friend looked at me confused and said “ Shobin, you’re an idiot. That's not her man. That’s her brother”. I was in shock. Literally, in seconds, I went and spoke to her. I don’t really remember too much of what was said but I know I tried to make her laugh, which I did 😅. She made fun of me because I was in a frat 🤦🏽. Like I said, I don’t really remember too much of what was said but I saw that she had a beautiful smile and calm voice. The boat party ended and we parted ways. As the whole party was leaving the boat, I realized I never asked for her number and I got sad. And I’m thinking man, who knows what could’ve happened. As I’m exiting the boat, a bit sad, to my biggest surprise, I see Sonia by herself. I immediately go and talk to her. Turns out, she was just waiting for brother to get off the boat. I ask for her number and ask if I could text her sometime. And she says yes. We then part ways again. One of the only ways I can describe my feelings at the time was like the scene from the movie “Hitch” where Albert Brennaman kisses Allegra Cole for the first time in front of her apartment and afterwards, he’s just alone dancing in the street. That was me lol The rest is history but that kids, is how I met my future wife.
