It all started on a cold winter night—one of those evenings you don’t realize will change your life until you look back on it years later. At the time, I (Sonia) was working at a restaurant called Z'Tejas. One of our regulars, Hilary, and I became fast friends, and one evening, she invited me over to her place to celebrate a recent accomplishment. That’s where I met Kramer—Hilary’s roommate. It was chilly that night, and without saying much, Kramer handed me a blanket to keep warm. It was such a small gesture, but one I’ll never forget. Soon after, I found myself hanging out with Hilary and Kramer more often at their new house. It didn’t take long for Kramer and me to become friends, and before I knew it, we were exchanging numbers. Our first official “date” happened shortly after that—on Super Bowl Sunday, 2017. Kramer’s team, the Atlanta Falcons, were playing against the New England Patriots—a team I grew up rooting for. At halftime, the Falcons were winning 28-6, and Kramer had plenty to say. But the Patriots made an epic comeback, and we made a bet: loser buys drinks. When the game went into overtime and the Patriots took the win, Kramer—true to his word—took me to Zipps for a few celebratory drinks. That night, we went from friendly rivals to something more. We talked about football, our jobs, the Mandela Effect (yes, really), and everything in between. By the end of the night, we both knew there was going to be a second date. We didn’t fall in love in a single moment. It was gradual but certain, like pieces falling into place. From day one, we were nearly inseparable. Within a couple of months, Kramer invited me to meet his friends and family in Nebraska, and not long after, he was helping me move out of my condo. It was those thoughtful gestures and the ease between us that made our love grow quickly and deeply. Over the last eight years, we’ve shared countless memories together. We’ve traveled to places like San Diego, Los Angeles, Montana, Colorado, Nebraska, Aruba, Puerto Vallarta, and Canada. In 2019, we moved into a townhouse together. Despite Kramer’s allergies, he was willing to live with me and my two dogs, Peanut and Sally. I always wanted more dogs, but out of love (and mercy for his sinuses), I held back—until we agreed to wait until we bought a house. In 2023, we decided to prioritize building our future over having a wedding right away, so instead, we bought our first home—and yes, that meant a third dog, Luka, joined the family. Later that year, for Christmas, I surprised Kramer with a trip to Canada to visit our friends Stacy and David. On July 4th, 2023, while the U.S. was celebrating its birthday, we were off exploring the breathtaking Canadian Rockies. That day, we took a gondola ride to the top of a mountain, surrounded by glaciers, shimmering lakes, and views that didn’t even seem real. At the summit, with the cold wind whipping around us, Kramer got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Just like the night we met, it was cold—but instead of offering me a blanket, he gave me a ring and wrapped me in a hug that said, this is forever. Now, as we look ahead, we’re filled with excitement for everything the future holds. We’ve got a long travel bucket list, and thankfully, we have a lifetime to check off every destination—together. We can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of you. Thank you for being a part of our story. 💛 With love, Sonia & Kramer
