We met at the hospital. I, Sonia, had recently returned to St. Joe's after taking time off to start working at Rush Copley, and Brendon had recently left his dental career to start a new career path at the hospital. We both noticed each other one day and casually began having small conversations. Brendon began recommending me TV shows and movies to watch. Soon, we would both make it an effort to try and find an opportunity to see each other at work. I would walk over to the operating room nurse's/anesthesiologists station and Brendon would walk through the recovery room and hopes of seeing each other, even if it was just briefly. Not too long after, we exchanged numbers and we were talking almost daily! We talked about our dreams, work, our bucket lists, our goals, future vacation plans, and our past experiences. On one of our conversations, we talked about camping and before we went on our first date, Brendon had booked us my first camping adventure, a trip to the Great Smoky Mountains! After weeks of talking, we had our first date. We had countless dates, many of them of which we spent hours into the night in his car talking. A month after our first date, we made it official! Since then we've had countless of adventures together. From seeing bears and a bobcat on our camping trip in Tennessee to checking off one of our bucket list items and experiencing the ball drop in Times Square in NYC surrounded by Ryan Seacrest, Sabrina Carpenter, Jelly Roll and countless celebrities, we have created so many beautiful memories together! We support each other. Brendon has been one of my biggest supporters since he entered my life. This past October, he and my sister ran their own little marathon across the city of Chicago while I ran the Chicago Marathon. Brendon has even gone as far as to support my running adventures by running his first half marathon in Colorado with me! I now have been lucky enough to be the one to cheer him on he has started his adventure as he recently completed his first Sprint Triathlon and will soon compete in the Chicago Triathlon! On May 30th, 2024, at the elevation of 11,990ft surrounded by snowcapped mountains, Brendon got down on one knee and proposed. To think this moment would ever happen was a complete shock. But it happened. I found him. My person. My home. He was the one I was meant to find. I knew it the day I first saw him that there was something special about him and I couldn't be more thankful life led me back to him. Of course, I said yes! We are thrilled to be experiencing this new adventure together and are extremely grateful to our friends and family who have been so supportive. We cannot wait to share this moment with you and hope you can make it to beautiful Mexico to celebrate our love! We love you! Thank you!
