Travel Note
Monforte d'Alba is a charming hilltop town in the heart of the Langhe wine region of northern Italy, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its stunning views, historic architecture, and exceptional vineyards. With its cobblestone streets, centuries-old churches, and panoramic vistas of rolling hills covered in grapevines, the town offers an authentic taste of Italian culture and natural beauty. Wine enthusiasts will particularly love visiting Monforte, as it’s surrounded by some of the best wineries in the region, offering exquisite Barolo wines.

Flight
For international travelers, we recommend flying into Milano Malpensa Airport and renting a car there. It’s about a 2-hour drive to Monforte d'Alba. Alternatively, you can fly into Torino Airport, which is closer (roughly a 1-hour drive), though keep in mind that it’s a smaller airport with fewer flight options.
Rental Car
There are several car rental companies at both airports, and we recommend reserving a car in advance to avoid delays or potential extra fees. Be sure to check that the rental company accepts international driver’s licenses, as some smaller companies may require an International Driving Permit, which can be easily obtained online in about 10 minutes. For price comparisons, we suggest using Booking.com to explore your options. Keep in mind that most rental cars are manual (stick shift), so if you prefer an automatic vehicle, make sure to request one when booking. Once you reach the Langhe region, the roads become winding and can be tricky to navigate, so having a reliable navigation system or GPS is essential.
Train
If you wish to travel by train, the Freccia Rossa connects major cities across Italy, offering a fast and convenient way to travel directly into the heart of key destinations. This makes a great option if you plan to visit big cities like Milan, Rome, Florence, Venice, Naples, or others before or after the wedding. However, while ideal for traveling between Italy’s larger cities, Freccia Rossa trains are not the best option for reaching the wedding venue. If you travel by train, this will take you to Torino, and from there, you will need to take another train to Alba or travel by car to reach Monforte d'Alba.
