Joshua and Alicia like to say their story was guided by an “invisible string.” Long before they ever met, their lives were already connected in small ways. They went to the same middle school and high school, shared many of the same friends, and Joshua was even friends with Alicia’s cousin. Somehow, despite all those overlapping circles, they never actually crossed paths. Looking back now, it feels like life was quietly bringing them closer while waiting for the right moment. That moment finally came in 2017 while they were both in college. Alicia had posted a photo on Instagram with the song “It Girl” by Jason Derulo. Joshua saw the post and decided to send her a message. That simple message turned into a conversation, and before long, they decided to meet. Their first date was at the movies to see Beauty and the Beast, followed by dinner at Johnny Rockets. What started as a casual date quickly turned into something much more meaningful. As their relationship grew, they discovered a shared love for baseball. Going to games together became one of their favorite traditions, spending time cheering, laughing, and making memories. Then one day, on a baseball field that had become so special to them, Joshua completely surprised Alicia. In the place where they had shared so many happy moments, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. It was the perfect full-circle moment, proof that the invisible string that had been connecting their lives for years had finally brought them together exactly when it was meant to.
