On a chilly October day in 2017, Mercedes was bored and wanted to hang out with a friend. She reached out to Amy (future bridesmaid), who proposed two options: go to the movies or join her at a local archery club shoot. Mercedes said, "why not? let's try some archery." She enjoyed it so much that she kept attending every week and became a member of the club. Enter Sandy. Sandy grew up shooting a bow and arrow with his dad and had been a member of the DC Archery Club for several years. He noticed this cute person coming around the club more often and decided to approach her during the club's annual Hanukkah party. Mercedes was unsure about him at first, but decided to keep him around when he said "I can DM." For those who aren't nerdy, DM is the acronym for "Dungeon Master," which is the person that leads a group in a game of Dungeons and Dragons (DND). A few weeks later, a DND group was formed and weekly gaming nights became the norm. After several months, Sandy and Mercedes became friends. They would flirt with each other here and there, and Sandy began growing on Mercedes, so much so that on March 2, 2018 they went on their first official date, where they enjoyed dinner at an Indian restaurant and arcade games at Dave & Buster's in Silver Spring. After that, they never looked back. Mercedes bought a house in Accokeek, MD, where they currently live (and work) with their dog Covi, cat Betty, and Senegal Parrot Bitey. Sandy proposed on the beach at his uncle Saul's beach house on August 17, 2020. Obviously, Mercedes said yes, so here we are planning a wedding! We look forward to having our family and friends with us to celebrate our special day.

Hi everyone! Here's a little information about me. I am 30 years old and currently work as a Department Administrator, Policy and Advocacy at the American Society for Clinical Oncology - a nonprofit association for oncology physicians and cancer advocates. I recently completed an MBA degree at the University of Maryland Global Campus this past March. I also hold a Master of Arts in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from the University of Cincinnati and Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Women's Studies from the University of Maryland. My friends would probably describe me as super organized. I usually am the one to herd the cats, so to speak, and schedule events and get-togethers like going to the Maryland Renaissance Festival, getting group tickets for the annual Music and Gaming Festival (MAGFest) at National Harbor, or booking a virtual escape room. I enjoy making lists (this wedding has provided me with plenty of list-making opportunities), binge-watching Netflix/Hulu/Sling/Disney+/Amazon Prime, playing board, tabletop, and card games, archery, camping, and going to Costco. Life goals include: being a multi-property owner, fostering lots of dogs (sorry, Sandy!), and amassing a stockpile of food and goods via extreme couponing. Hi everyone! A little about me... My real name is Solomon, but my friends and family (that's you) can and ought to call me Sandy. I'll be 37 by our marriage date. I am applying my Master's level education in Acquisition Supply Chain Management (ASCM) and Master's of Business Administration to use as a Contract Specialist for the United States Army. In my free time I enjoy archery, camping, and playing all sorts of games--from card games to computer games. I've been loved and feared by many a "player character" for my epic dungeons and dragons campaigns - now playable on a TV-in-table hand crafted by me and my father. The rest of my spare time is taken up by completing lists made by Mercedes, and our many pets, and quite possibly future fosters (*sigh/faint*).
