Matteo and Julia met on Hinge (whose tagline is "the dating app that's meant to be deleted." Julia started the conversation on March 2nd and they wrote back and forth for a week. The two went on their first date the following week on March 9th. They met at the Tempest Coffee parking lot and took Nova out for a walk together along the river. As they walked along the road Julia was on the street side and thought to herself "I'm on the wrong side of the sidewalk. Julia! Men don't know things like that anymore." Not a minute later Matteo said "You're on the wrong side" and switched sides, like a true gentleman. After their walk, Matteo suggested they get lunch. They drove to Qdoba and continued to talk, laugh and enjoy each other's company. At the end of the date as they were saying their goodbyes Matteo looked directly into Julia's eyes and said "I'm very interested." After the first date ended, they both knew this was something different. Something real. Julia called her mother later that day and said "Mom, I've found my husband." When you know, you know.
On Saturday May 6th, Matteo was in charge of the day's plans. He chose a walk along the river with his two girls, Julia and Nova. The three walked along the same trail they had walked along two years prior. Along the riverside, Matteo got down on one knee, took Julia's hands into his own and he began to speak. He told her how much he loved her (with tears in his eyes) and pulled out a box from his pocket. He opened it up and and said "Jules, will you marry me." Of course she answered yes, and the two spent the rest of the day calling loved ones and relishing in the excitement of their engagement.
