Becca truly fits in the category “a sister by birth, but friend by choice”. Becca is 6 years younger than Cayla, so this was not always the case (as you can image how obvious that age gap felt during Cayla’s teenage years). As they got older, their friendship outside of sisterhood began to blossom. Becca has a kind and gentle heart. The love she has for others runs so deep that even though it may hurt sometimes, it also makes her the caring, thoughtful, and compassionate person she is today. Their shared love of traveling, boba, and creativity has bonded them well past their DNA.

Maya Zavala

Maya and Kevin met while working at a middle school in LA. In a stressful environment, they provided each other much needed comic relief. They provided a space to unwind when students and, maybe even more so, adults drove us to irritability. In 2018 Kevin left LA, his job at the middle school, and figured it would mark the end of their work friendship. To his surprise their friendship flourished despite the distance. Even though she is on the other side of the country she continues to be someone who Kevin can count on when life gets stressful.

Throughout the years, Rachel has become a pillar in Cayla’s life. While they may have met in middle school, their friendship started to truly form once they were in high school. By college, the pillar had been set and they solidified their bond with one another for life. Officially known as Cayla’s platonic soulmate, Rachel has helped Cayla become the person she is today in so many ways. Rachel always has the best recommendations, advice, and support when you are needing a light in the darkness.

Matt Grill

Kevin can’t recall the place or the year they met, Matt just appeared and has been a fixture since. Plex Overlord, IYKYK, will always make time for a hang. Random Wednesday dinner at Chicken Licks, again IYKYK, no problem. You need a concert buddy, Matt is your dude! When the Mango Carts start flowing you know you’re in for a good time!

Marissa Wallenberg

Thoughtful, radiant, supportive, caring, creative, comforting; Marissa fits the definition of these to a T. Cayla met Marissa her freshman year of college. Their shared love of crafting, spooky stuff, dilly dallying, and knick knacks created an undeniable connection. Despite Cayla’s continued testing of the boundaries of Marissa’s tolerance with her Shenanigans, they remain true ride or die friends.

Paul "Pail" Wade

Auto correct insists we call him Pail, so we do. Paul is Kevin's dive bar companion, if it has a beer + shot combo he is there. 15 years of friendship means a lot of beer/shot combos. Pail is always down for a beer and deep conversations about life’s biggest mysteries. All in all he is a good hang. Although, heads up, if you invite him into your home he will snoop through your cabinets.

Cayla and Lydia connected through unhinged behavior throughout graduate school (potentially through delirium but also due to their general personality). What started as a trauma bond from graduate school blossomed into a mixture of genuine connection with a sprinkle of their residual trauma bond. The human embodiment of a unicorn, Lydia radiates sunlight and magic in every place she exists. She is thoughtful, considerate, and a genuinely wholehearted person.

Mike Hammond

Mike and Kevin met freshman year of college. They were both in line waiting for the bus to take us to Target. At the time Kevin was an LA kid in a new city and Mike helped make this new city feel like home. Years later Kevin was an LA adult moving to Milwaukee, a new city yet again. Again Mike made this new place feel like home, showing him the cool local spots and having him over for dinner on a weekly basis. Talk about a support system!

Gedi Haile

From burning the hell out of Cayla’s foot during their first year working together to supporting her as she walks down the aisle, the friendship between Cayla and Gedi has had some wild twists and turns. Gedi’s humor, chill demeanor, and genuine care are some of the few reasons that he makes such a wonderful friend. Kevin also appreciates their connection through soccer and beer.

John is the incredibly adorable, funny, and sweet babe of Cayla and Kevin’s friends Magen and Andrew. John is unbearable adorable and will increase the cute factor of their wedding by 1000%.

Technically, Cayla and Josh met during the undergraduate years of their lives after being introduced by their good friend and fellow wedding party member, Rachel. But it wasn't until recent years that Cayla and Josh grew to connect more closely as friends. Josh and Kevin started their bromance in 2021. Cayla and Kevin were invited to celebrate Doo Dah in Columbus. From the jump, Kevin noticed how his good vibes energy filled up the room. The 4th of July has become Kevin's favorite holiday, not because of some stupid sense of patriotism but because he to spend time with Josh. Josh's innate ability to connect people together, create an inviting environment, and "get the party started" energy are just some of the reasons why Cayla and Kevin love Josh so much. They also make him the optimal candidate to be their officiant.
