Flight
The Bay Area has several airports, but we would recommend choosing either Oakland International Airport (OAK) or San Francisco International Airport (SFO). OAK is the closest and most convenient airport to Berkeley (~25 min drive) and often has some good options on Southwest; however, SFO is much larger and has a wider choice in airlines, often at lower prices. It can take anywhere between 30 and 90 min to get to Berkeley from SFO, depending on traffic at the time of arrival. BART (see below) can be taken from either airport directly to Berkeley.
Train
Our venue is very easily accessible via BART, which is the public transportation system throughout the Bay Area. There are three BART stations in Berkeley (North Berkeley, Downtown Berkeley, and Ashby) that connect us to San Francisco, Oakland, and other parts of the Bay, including both SFO and OAK airports. The Downtown Berkeley station is about a 10-15 min walk from our venue. To ride BART, either get a Clipper Card at the station, or add a Clipper Card to your digital wallet as a transit pass.
Hotel
Our venue, Berkeley City Club, is a historic hotel designed by Julia Morgan, the first licensed female architect in California and architect of the famous Hearst Castle. It is a beautiful place to stay but, given its status as a California Historical Landmark, it is more expensive than some of the other options in the area. We have booked hotel blocks at two more affordable hotels in the area (see below). There are also many great options on Airbnb and Vrbo. See our suggestions for best neighborhoods below.
Hotel
We have set up a hotel block at Residence Inn in Downtown Berkeley. It is a 10 min walk to our venue and down the street from the Downtown Berkeley BART station. Click the below reservation link to book with our group rate. The last day to book is May 19, 2025.
Hotel
We have set up a hotel block at Sonesta in Emeryville. It is a 15-20 minute drive to the venue, but more affordable than Berkeley hotels and a convenient location for going into San Francisco. Click the below reservation link to book with our group rate. The last day to book is June 4, 2025.
Travel Note
If you want to stay close by to our venue, we’d recommend looking for places in Downtown Berkeley, North Berkeley, Elmwood, or Rockridge. Check out our “Things to Do” page for some great spots to go to in these neighborhoods! If you will have a car and want to explore San Francisco or other parts of the Bay Area while you’re here, Emeryville is conveniently located between SF, Berkeley, and Oakland and has many hotels. Feel free to reach out to us before booking if you have any questions about specific neighborhoods.
