Their story began on February 4th, 2023, at Mike’s church game night. Sofia was attending for the first time, eager to meet new people, while Chris was already familiar with the gatherings, having attended several previously. Sofia joined a group and began chatting comfortably when Chris—usually a bit reserved—unexpectedly joined their conversation upon overhearing that Sofia was from Colombia. Excitedly, he shared that he had visited Colombia before. Initially, Sofia was amused by his boldness, thinking, "Well, isn’t he confident?" However, as their conversation unfolded, she soon realized there was much more depth to him than her first impression suggested. Later in the evening, everyone gathered to take a Polaroid photo. With all seats occupied, the only spot left was on Chris’s lap. Sofia casually took the seat without much hesitation, but the first photo failed to develop correctly, necessitating a retake. Neither of them realized at the moment that this second snapshot would symbolize the beginning of something truly special. Following the game night, the group went out for drinks. Sofia and Chris found themselves dancing and talking for hours, completely losing track of time. By night's end, Sofia knew she had met someone extraordinary. Just a week later, they met again at their church's community group. Sofia felt a little nervous seeing Chris again, but after Bible study, she made sure to say hello. Chris asked casually where she lived, and upon learning it was Foggy Bottom, he playfully questioned if she knew the origin of its name. Sofia admitted she didn’t, and the topic seemed to drop—until two days later, when she received a follow request from Chris on Instagram. The next day, February 7th, he surprised her with a direct message explaining the origin of Foggy Bottom. Sofia was touched by the thoughtfulness and cleverness behind his gesture—it was unlike anything she'd experienced before. From that point forward, their bond grew stronger. They spent countless hours together, laughing, talking, and deepening their connection. Today, they're excitedly preparing to begin the next chapter of their lives together.
