Erica moved to Philly in 2014 to get her Masters in Nonprofit Leadership at Penn and pursue her dream of growing her nonprofit StudentsCare. After a tough first year adjusting to a new city, being back in school, and starting her own nonprofit, Erica decided to try out App Dating in hopes of meeting someone who would also fulfill her dreams of love. After many bad first dates, Erica was about to call it quits with app dating. She was going to India to staff a medical mission trip and decided to put dating on hold. But, as she was packing the week before her trip, her phone buzzed with a notification on JSwipe. There was a match and message from Scott. They chatted briefly through the app, until Erica said "why don't you just text me." Shortly after, Erica received a text from Scott asking her out on Tuesday, December 15, 2015. They met at Dandelion, a bar/restaurant in Center City, where they shared fish and chips and beer (Scott of course wanted Tito's, but followed Erica's lead ordering a beer..she thought she was being cool). Scott put Erica in a taxi home and Erica remembers thinking she wasn't ready for the night to end! But, Erica didn't have to wait too long until she got a text from Scott asking to see her one more time before her trip. They met up on Thursday to go to a winter village, but when they got there it was closed for a private event. Scott was a little embarrassed but handled it well. They ended up going to another bar and then back to Erica's where they hung out and got to know each other. Scott messaged Erica when she landed in India checking to make sure she arrived safely. Erica knew this was a good sign. They kept in touch throughout the trip and Scott was counting down the days until Erica came back to Philly. The days and nights to follow were filled with lots of laughter over Chinese take out, binge watching Netflix, and winter activities. They were so excited for their families to get to know them too and share in their special love.
Among the many things we have in common, our love for family and friends is one of the things we cherish most about each other. We feel so lucky to have so many wonderful people in our lives to share in the ups and downs. To our parents...Thank you for the unconditional love and support and showing us what a strong marriage looks like. We are so lucky to have your guidance and presence in our daily lives and look forward to planning our special day together. To our siblings...Even though you made us the middle children, we still love you and thank you for shaping us into the people we are today. Our closeness to our siblings, on both sides, is something we treasure dearly and hope one day our kids can say the same. To Erica's village...Thank you for getting me through the growing pains of life and always making your comfy beds available for pillow chats and sikkums. Don't worry, even though I'm getting married you're not getting rid of me! To our grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins...We are so lucky to call you all family. We can turn any gathering into a party. From family trips to Shabbat dinners, we always love being together and the FOMO is so real if missed. To our friends...From all different stages of our lives...you have been there for us and brought so much fun and happiness to our lives. You also love our families and that is so special to us. We can't wait to bring you all together for this special weekend and create many more happy memories with each of you. Love, E&S
