Saloon
We went to this Davis Square speakeasy on our first date. Look for the round light sconce over an inconspicuous, unmarked doorway. Saloon specializes in whiskey, but don't forget to ask about the Popcorn of the Day.
Curio Coffee
Our favorite coffee shop, just 110 steps away from the #loveshack (we counted). The liege waffle is their only daytime food menu item, and it's a must-try. Recently, Curio opened a natural wine bar in the evenings (5-10 pm, Thurs-Sun). It's the perfect spot to try interesting wines from around the world – and the best grilled cheese you'll ever have.
Peabody Essex Museum
An art museum in the heart of downtown Salem. The museum holds one of the major collections of Asian art in the United States.
Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum
An art museum experience unlike any other. Plus, the setting of a $500 million art heist that remains unsolved.
Boston Symphony Hall
One of Nathan's favorite places (and a special occasion destination for us). Try to catch an orchestra performance while you're in town!
SoWa Vintage Market
One of Ashlyn's favorite places (and a weekend staple for us). Stroll through a labyrinth of vintage furniture, clothing and decor, and see what treasures you find!
Carmelina's
Ashlyn met her future in-laws for the first time here! Enjoy authentic Italian food in Boston's famous North End. Fun fact: Carmelina's doesn't serve coffee or dessert, in an effort to encourage patrons to visit one of the many other Italian specialty bakeries or cafes in the neighborhood. (We love Bova's Bakery for cannoli!)
The Smoke Shop BBQ
We love us some BBQ, and this is just about the best you can find in New England. There are two Smoke Shop locations, in Assembly Row and Kendall Square. Try the ribs or the fried chicken!
Rockport
This quaint, coastal town was the site of our engagement. It's picturesque – home of the "most often-painted building in America" – and worth a trip!
Nahant Beach
Although sun and surf won't be in-season, this is Ashlyn and Nathan's favorite beach to visit during the summer. Take a visit (and a brisk walk) when you're in town for the wedding!
