LET THE FAIRYTALE BEGIN

We met through the sorority and fraternity community during Iowa State's "Varieties" show. Our chapters were paired together to compete in the mini musical competition against other greek chapters. Over 4 months, we slowly but surely got to know each other during rehearsals and weekend events, but really hit it off when our team took the first place trophy in the competition. During a party that lasted until the wee hours of the morning, we shared our first kiss to one of our friends singing "Kiss the Girl" from the Little Mermaid in the background. The rest? Is history.

We got engaged on a beautiful trip in Key West. Key West has always been a special place to Sofie and her family, and Marcus won this trip through a work competition. He KNEW this would be the perfect storm for the proposal. The first day of vacation was spent celebrating Sofie's 23rd birthday exploring the local restaurants, going on a sunset snorkel trip, and ending the evening with some drinks. The proposal day was filled with a boozy morning brunch, a sunny pool day, and what Marcus described to Sofie as "dinner on the beach." We got all gussied up and took an uber to where Sofie THOUGHT was the restaurant. Marcus claimed the uber driver dropped us at the wrong location, so Sofie, obliviously followed along. Soon after, we approached a beach-front picnic complete with candles, champagne, and a sign reading "Future Mrs. Knouse." At this point, Sofie was in happy tears and just when she thought the moment couldn't be any sweeter, Sofie's best friend and Maid of Honor rounded the corner with her boyfriend, Peyton, to capture the ENTIRE. THING. This, of course, resulted in more tears and the most perfect ring. The rest of the trip was filled with sightseeing on Duval Street, swimming in the ocean, and drinking at Sloppy Joes. Truly, the most perfect trip.
