How we met

07.29.2014

4 years ago in July, I took a trip to Tampa. The last day before leaving back home, I decided to go to the mall. I have to admit that I had absolutely no makeup on, but did decide to wear a nice dress. I was looking through a window store and when I turned around, Jorge comes walking towards me and says, “I have to tell you something, because if I don’t I will probably regret it for the rest of my life. I don’t know if you are married, if you have children [he though my niece was my daughter] or if you have a boyfriend, but I think you are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.” I was in complete awe, I didn’t even know what or how to respond to that, I do remember saying was “Thank you I am flattered.” We started talking and we ended up realizing that we were both from Puerto Rico. When we were saying goodbye I told him: “You should friend me on Facebook and anytime you go to PR, maybe we can meet up” I was just being polite, but he didn’t have Facebook or Instagram, so we ended up exchanging numbers. About 5 minutes after saying goodbye, Jorge texted me and asked me out to dinner that same night. I was totally freaking out. We had a great dinner until we realized the restaurant was closing and they even told us that we needed to leave. The conversation was so great that we went to a beautiful park in Downtown Tampa (Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park) and we talked all night. When it was time to leave, I was leaning in for a hug (I have a rule- do NOT kiss on the first date), then he held me by the side of my face and kissed me. Boy it was such a great kiss, that I had butterflies. No one had ever made me feel that way before! I couldn’t even sleep or eat! That’s the moment I knew I was going to marry him! He took me to the airport the next day and we said our goodbyes. We have been talking ever since, we did long distance for 6 months, we flew a couple of times to see each other and then in January 2015, I moved to Tampa!

How we got engaged

01.01.2017

It was just a normal New Year's eve, in our annual New Year's spot in Downtown Tampa. I had no clue that Jorge had any plans of proposing, but we counted down to midnight and in front of our friends and family, while the fireworks were going off, Jorge got down on one knee and proposed. He knew how much I love fireworks that he believed that was the perfect moment to propose.
