We met in the kids’ class at church! Sofi’s sister-in-law was the teacher, and Jonathan had come to visit. Clearly, God had a sense of humor that day—He set up what turned out to be the cutest little meet-cute ever. Jonathan somehow won all the candy in class, and Sofi (who definitely had her priorities straight) decided the best way to get some was to befriend him. The candy didn’t last, but the friendship did! Even over the years, they kept in touch—and the rest, as they say, is sweet history.
After years of only keeping in touch through social media and never seeing each other in person, we finally reconnected at Youth For the Nations in the summer of 2019. We confessed our feelings but decided to wait a little longer before making things official. From July to January, we talked nonstop, hung out whenever we could, and by January 2020, Jonathan finally asked Sofi to be his girlfriend… and she said yes!
Yes—almost 6 years later, Jonathan got on one knee and asked Sofi to get married!! Sofi with tears in her eyes, and Jonathan with trembling hands, accepted to take each other on yet ANOTHER journey closer to forever! It hasn't been easy, and there wouldn't be enough spaces to fill up all of our years together here, nor would it do our story justice. However, those who are near to us, those who have prayed for us, and God who has been there through every heartache, joy, and pain, being faithful to the end, and will continue to be, know how much this next step means to us!
We wish we could share every detail of our story—not to show what we’ve done or gone through, but so you could see God’s faithfulness and experience His goodness through our testimony. But for now, what we will say is if you choose to accept to come and celebrate our union, we ask that you keep us in your prayers. Pray that we continue to fall in love with Jesus first, so that we may fall in love with each other. Pray that we learn to love the way Jesus does, die to our own desires, and seek first what God wants. Pray that our marriage would be a light to those around us and a living testimony of His faithfulness. We can’t wait to celebrate with you on March 14!
