We're getting married!

Sofia & Carlos' love story began, unbeknownst to them, in 2021. Sofia befriended Aileen (Carlos' older sister), when she joined a bible study at the Newman Center at SDSU. Their friendship continued in the years to follow, and along the way, Aileen shared that she had a younger brother Sofia's age! Sofia told Aileen, "Well that's perfect! Set us up, and we could be sisters for life!" Fast forward to 2024: Aileen finally shared with Carlos that she had a friend she thought would get along with him well. Sofia was still living in San Diego at the time, so he took matters into his own hands and reached out to her via social media. After hearing so much about one another, Sofia & Carlos were excited to finally meet each other in person! Carlos drove all the way to San Diego for their first date! They shared great conversation and many laughs over Salty Crew beers and dinner at Coronado Brewing Company. Aileen was right, they hit it off! Sofia excitedly shared how the date went with her roommates. Carlos called friends & family on his long drive home, and blasted Tennessee Whiskey in the car! After many over-the-phone conversations, and by date #3, Sofia & Carlos knew they had met someone really special, someone they could both envision a future with! At the end of their date, Carlos asked Sofia to be his girlfriend, and she happily replied, "YES!" In the months to follow, Sofia & Carlos called nightly and visited each other on the weekends. They enjoyed many laughs over the phone and were able to gradually meet each other's friends and family during their weekend visits. Before long, Carlos even started driving down to San Diego during the week so they could spend more time together! Sofia was able to show him her cooking skills during their "Wednesday dinners" (they say that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach!). Though there was quite some distance between them, this did not hinder their ability to fall deeply in love with each other! After much discernment, Carlos & Sofia knew that the Lord was calling them to take the next step in their relationship. They were confident that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together as one! On May 1st, 2025, Carlos got down on one knee and popped the question. Of course, Sofia happily replied "YES!"
