Our story began in the bustling heart of Madrid, at the start of our MBA program. Sofia, straight from Torreon, Mexico, was prepared to explain where her hometown was located when she met Andrew. But guess what? He already had been there! Who would have thought? Being in the same section and work group gave our relationship a head start, evolving from classmates to best friends and, over time, into something truly special. From day one, we clicked effortlessly, trying to balance schoolwork, fun, and everything in between. Our year in Madrid was a rollercoaster of classes, projects, travel and unforgettable dinners and parties. Amidst all the hustle, we discovered a deep connection, finding someone truly extraordinary far from our homes in Mexico and Minnesota. As the MBA program wrapped up, we enjoyed the last days of this adventure during the summer in Madrid. Sofia was preparing to say goodbye to the city, while Andrew was starting a new venture in Spain. Despite a difficult and tearful (on Sofia’s side Hehe) goodbye, we knew we would stay close, believing in the strong bond we had and how it would remain forever. Months after graduating, we had plans to reunite for the Camino de Santiago hike, but the pandemic had other ideas. During lockdown, we kept in touch with midnight birthday calls, random text check-ins and Quizmasters trivia. When the world reopened, we reconnected at a friend’s wedding in Egypt and later on a ski trip in Whistler. That’s when we finally asked ourselves: should we give this a real shot and take our relationship to the next level? Taking the leap from friendship to romance was both thrilling and terrifying, but we went for it! We endured long-distance dating for almost two years, meeting in Torreon, Minnesota, Argentina, Denver, Italy and beyond. Finally, standing the test of time and distance, we chose Denver as our home base, where Andrew popped the question, and Sofia said YES! Now, we’re beyond excited to start this new chapter together. We’re incredibly grateful to God and the universe for bringing us together and can’t wait to celebrate our love with all of you! Let’s make February 15th, 2025 an unforgettable memory!
