Maid of Honor
Anna showed up to audition for the first show Kyle directed at the local community theater, and fellow cast mates kept asking her if she was the director’s girlfriend (at the time), Sofia. Of course, this must have been confusing for her until the two finally met in person and shared the simultaneous thought: “oooh, I get it now.” Nowadays, even Anna’s dog gets the two mixed up! On top of their dazzling good looks, they also share a love of dogs and theater. Perhaps one of the most wonderful things about Anna is that when Sofia doesn’t feel like she’s at her most beautiful, Anna always helps and encourages her to love everything about herself.
Ari Manabat
Bridesmaid
Kyle met Ari through theater, and after bonding over the unique experience of putting on a virtual musical, Cinderella, during the 2020 shutdown, he knew that she and Sofia would become fast friends. (And boy, was he right!) The two met a couple of years ago and Sofia knew very quickly that Ari would be someone very special in her life. One of our fondest memories of her is when she was enlisted by Kyle to play the roles of photographer, stage manager, and Sofia delivery service during his proposal plans. Her creativity and ability to DIY anything imaginable into existence is also something to be admired! We are so grateful to have someone as caring and supportive as Ari standing up with us!
Cami DeMarco
Bridesmaid
Cami is Kyle’s older sister and remains one of his heroes to this day. She is immensely creative, talented, and thoughtful. It just so happened that when the bride and groom first started dating, a position opened up in Cami’s office and Sofia was lucky enough to spend two years working alongside her. Kyle and Cami grew up performing in musicals, and she is the reason for his intense love for theater. The hours spent singing with her around the piano are some of our favorite memories with her. We appreciate her for all her years of advice, music, and cake – particularly the three-tiered Nightmare Before Christmas cake and book of Sherlock Holmes.
Carena Wills
Bridesmaid
Carena was one of Sofia’s first friends when she moved to Davis. They were coworkers for a few years at a property management company until Carena left to pursue her dream of being a teacher, which she has since made into reality! Sofia deeply admires her passion for child development and education. Their relationship is unique from all the rest of Sofia’s friendships. They can go for months without seeing each other in person and communicating solely through texts with funny videos, but whenever they are together it’s as if no time has passed at all. Carena is such a caring and open person that it’s almost impossible not to be friends with her!
Kaitlyn McEowen
Bridesmaid
Kaitlyn and Sofia just met in the past year through the local community theater. They quickly became friends while bonding over their shared love of true crime podcasts and acting alongside each other in their performance of Sweeney Todd. Even though they have only been in each others’ lives for under a year, Sofia often looks to Kaitlyn like an older sister because she is always learning from her sagely advice. Everyday is a little brighter when someone as compassionate and thoughtful as Kaitlyn walks into your life! It’s a gift to have her on this wedding day adventure with us.
Brenton Jackson
Best Man
Brenton is Kyle’s older brother, proving that the lightning of good looks does indeed strike twice. Through a passion for music, interest in card games, and knack for puzzles, he provided the perfect template for many of the groom’s favorite pastimes and nearly all his impeccable taste in music. Kyle’s favorite memories of Brenton are the hiking and backpacking trips they’ve shared; there is no doubt he received Brenton’s love of camping. One of the most important lessons that Kyle has taken from Brenton and implemented throughout his entire life is that no matter how full you are, there is always room enough for cookie dough. We are so happy to have him supporting us on our big day.
Gabriel Gonzalvez
Groomsman
Kyle was a year behind Gabriel in high school and the two actually met before Kyle ever knew Sofia. They performed in multiple musicals together and he even understudied Gabriel once in Cabaret. He guided Kyle through his first ever escape room in 2021 and continues to guide us through many of life’s puzzles. As Sofia’s older brother, Gabriel has a remarkable ability to make her laugh no matter the circumstances. When she was sad upon his leaving for college, he would record and edit funny videos to make her feel better. Sofia attributes her love of comedy to her older brother, and we would like to thank him for taking such good care of Sofia over the years.
Jordan Graham
Groomsman
Sofia and Jordan became friends while they were working at Kyle’s dad’s company over five years ago. At work, they bonded over their frustration at uncooperative technology and in their spare time, they spent hours playing video games and watching Netflix stand-up comedy specials over the phone. Jordan has long been the third player in our standing Thursday evening video game night. He is also often the audience for first performances of songs from Kyle and Sofia. Something unique about our friendship is that even though Jordan has been one of our closest friends for so long, because he lives out of state, we only met in person for the first time last year!
Mando Gonzalvez
Groomsman
Mando is Sofia’s little brother. His passion for writing and producing his own music as Willowhead has earned his albums their place as a favorite among the bride and groom – and also Sofia scream-singing his songs in the car on her way to work. Not only is Mando extremely talented, but he is the most gentle, kind, and caring little brother. He welcomed Kyle into his life with open arms and even began collaborating on music together. He also co-wrote Sofia’s first song with her. We love hosting him when he’s in town during breaks from college in Pittsburgh. Being his older sister is one of the greatest privileges in Sofia’s life. We would like to thank Mando for being a part of our lives!
Timothy Blankenship
Groomsman
Tim and Kyle have a lengthy history of shows together: Mary Poppins, The Drowsy Chaperone, Mamma Mia, and The Pajama Game. It was during these shows that Tim’s secret ability to balance out Kyle’s chaotic energy began to emerge. And by balance out, we mean he is dangerously supportive. Tim’s art skills and keen wit have added some most delightful color to our lives, and not just because he serenades us with songs from The Scarlet Pimpernel. It’s a privilege to have him living close by so that we can see him so often. But beyond that, Tim’s humongous heart makes him one of our dearest friends with the best hugs.
Derek DeMarco
Officiant
Derek is Kyle & Sofia’s brother-in-law, and we couldn’t ask for a better officiant. Not only did he enter both our lives at the same time when he started dating Cami, but he quickly became a very dear friend – and not just for his culinary prowess. His humor, his wisdom, and his talent onstage make him perfect for guiding our special ceremony. He has introduced the couple to many board games that are now cherished memories, and we often look forward to the next adventure, or even the next game of Pitch when all together. We are thankful for the thought and kindness that accompany his advice.
