Money in Bali

Cash is still king in Bali. You will need it wherever you go but in low denominations. Although IDR 100,000 bills are useful for high-priced items, smaller shops may not carry large amounts of change. Click 'View' below for more info on using ATMs, rates, limits, etc.

Travel Tips for Bali

We’re so excited to celebrate with you in beautiful Bali! To help you have a smooth and enjoyable trip, here are a few friendly travel tips: Stay Healthy & Comfortable     •    Avoid “Bali Belly”: Stick to bottled or filtered water (even for brushing your teeth), and be mindful of iced drinks. Enjoy Bali’s amazing food, but opt for freshly cooked food.     •    Mosquito Protection: Bali’s tropical climate means mosquitoes are around, especially in the evening. To keep bites at bay, wear insect repellent and avoid dark bushes/plants at night. Bug sprays (Soffell/Autan) and patches are readily available at minimarts. Respecting Balinese Culture Bali has a beautiful and deeply spiritual culture, and a little mindfulness goes a long way:     •    Step around offerings: You’ll see small, woven Canang Sari (offerings of flowers, incense, and food) placed on sidewalks, shrines, and doorsteps. They’re an important part of daily Hindu rituals, so try not to step on them.     • Dress appropriately at temples: If you plan on visiting one of the many temples, be sure to wear a sarong and cover your shoulders and back (many temples provide them). Thank you for respecting the island and we hope you enjoy all it has to offer! Let us know if you have any questions, we can’t wait to see you in Bali!
