Ivy and Paul originally met (almost exactly) seven years ago while both working at Northwestern Mutual. Their friendship began in earnest with Paul introducing himself to the new girl at work, and Ivy inviting herself to a handshake and a loud, excitable "Hello!" That quickly developed into some sort of "frenemy" relationship with banter, pranks and innumerable jokes at the other's expense. Their first such interaction resulted in them forcing upon the office a one-on-one chili cook-off, with votes for best recipe. (Ivy won handily.) Years went on, and the kids in our story began to adult together. Their friendship remained steady - Ivy providing Paul dating advice, and Paul providing Ivy with endless opportunities for that advice. When Ivy pursued her passion and her Master's, time at the office turned into time at parties and with friends (including Ivy's self-designated BFF: Roger Soener, Paul's Dad). On these occasions, the two never found themselves short on laughs. Eventually both found themselves out of long-term relationships and coincidentally found each other, though both were initially wary of said realization... Things were made official in spring 2018 when Paul surprised Ivy with an extravagant 28th birthday present - a summer trip for the two of them in Utah! Hiking in the mountains of Utah's national parks was a trip that built a love. A year passed, which saw many great adventures. But it was another excursion, this one a ski trip high in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, when Paul mustered up the courage to ask Ivy for her hand in marriage. On the second floor of their Steamboat Springs balcony, with the night sky shining on the snowy valley, Paul made his move. Ivy, in complete disbelief asked, "What? Are you crazy?!" But Paul was undeterred, and responded, "Will you please not ask if I'm crazy, and just say 'YES'?" To which, she did. And dear friends, the rest - as they say - is history.
