#HowItAllStarted

Our story started in 2016 at Biola. Christina was a freshman piano major and Nicholas switched to worship major with vocal emphasis in sophomore year. Nicholas, being a responsible and proactive vocalist that he was, contacted Christina, his accompanist, over Facebook and asked her when would be a good time to meet and give her his music. They started small talk and agreed to meet at the fireplace the first week of school. You see, Christina was a freshman so Nicholas would be one of the first guys she would meet in college. As days and weeks went on, Christina and Nicholas were constantly with each other because they had to practice and go to lessons together. After a baked potato "date" at Talon, they officially began to learn about each others background and life experiences. Within months, and many unofficial cafeteria dates, Christina's family approved of Nicholas and thus started his journey of dating a loud homeschooled freshman. There were many ups and downs in the relationship with one breakup after freshman year. After a summer of singleness, both Christina and Nicholas realized they still loved each other and were better together for the glory of God. They officially started their relationship again in March of 2017. This break was good because it made them step back and re-evaluate what they need to change, how to serve each other better, and how they can use their relationship as a testimony of God's faithfulness. Both came from very different backgrounds- Nicholas grew up in fast-paced Hong Kong as an only child, and Christina grew up as an ABC homeschooled eldest-of-4 in suburban LA. But despite all their differences, God remains first in their lives and that is what gives them assurance to do life together for the next 50+ years of their lives.
