How We Met - Dylan

September 2019

As a newly enrolled freshman at Fordham University, I was super excited to kickstart my college career. Everything was so overwhelming, including the almost immeasurable number of people I met in the first week. As names and faces poured in, I tried my hardest to balance the start of independence, schoolwork, and a severe lack of sleep. One day, my friend introduced me to a girl he had met, and said I should meet her super cool roommate. I agreed, but never got a chance to meet her. Later that month, I was sitting in one of my large first-year seminars. Apparently, I had not yet figured out college life and was battling the stress of all my responsibilities, specifically the homework I had procrastinated that was due later that evening. The minute the seminar ended, I packed my bag and began to leave when I felt something tap my back. I turned around and saw this beautiful girl with a huge smile on her face. She introduced herself as Sara and explained that she was the girl my friend had mentioned previously. In a bout of awkwardness and stupidity, I froze and said, "Oh, that's great! I have to go," and left. Well, turns out she did not like that very much...who would have known! After learning that (and somehow not realizing myself), I reached out to apologize. I remember sitting in that conversation, after sharing how bad I felt, feeling mesmerized. The way she talked, laughed, and smiled was unlike anything I had ever seen. Apparently, she wanted to give me a second chance. I think I figured it out this time around. Turns out, six years later, we are getting married! How crazy is that?

How We Met - Sara

September 2019

Freshman year at Fordham University! My roommate was seeing this guy and she had mentioned him having a roommate, Dylan. She said that we might have a class together, pre-med first year symposium. This class only met once a week, so next time I was in the class I recognized the cute blonde boy from Maddi’s pictures. It being such an early time in the year, I figured “what the heck” I’ll introduce myself to try and make friends! After the class had ended I walked right up to Dylan, tapped him on the shoulder and said “Hi! I’m Sara, Maddi’s roommate!” And to my utter surprise Dylan had replied with a simple “Oh nice!” turned and walked away (this is exactly how it went down despite Dylan’s recollection). This then became an ongoing joke in my circle but Dylan being sweet Dylan, immediately apologized profusely. Without any hesitation I gave him a second chance; I just knew he would have a special place in my heart. We have been inseparable since, this is the truest story of being lucky enough to marry your best friend.

Where We Are Now

6 Years Later

Dylan and I spent the best four years of our lives at Fordham, making memories with our best friends. We loved having classes together, exploring NYC, and growing stronger together each and every year. Dylan quickly became an integral part of the girls group, thank you Maddi, Meg, and Ava for welcoming him with open arms, an endless amount of inside jokes, and all the love. In the spring of our junior year, Dylan and I embarked on one of our most magical journeys yet – Ireland! We spent our semester traveling lots and studying very little. Our trips included: Barcelona, Milan, Rome, Ilkley, Lisbon, Lagos, London, and Edinburgh! We also did our fair share of making the most incredible memories in Ireland, hiking the Cliffs of Moher and swimming in the Dingle Bay were just some of our favorites. After we graduated in 2023, Dylan and I spent our first year post-grad long distance. It was difficult, but we both can undeniably agree that this year was an incredibly formative time. We were constantly missing each other, only saw each other about four times, and had to find our strength in each other. We spent our 4th year anniversary in Colorado. We also spent an amazing week in Florence with Dylan’s sister, Kylie, in May. Dylan and I made the move to sunny San Diego in September of 2024 and it’s safe to say we have had the most fun and fulfilling year of our lives yet! We started volunteering at a local shelter in February and soon after adopted our Poppy – she keeps us on our toes but has been the biggest bundle of joy. Dylan planned the most beautiful and thoughtful proposal in May, to this day the most special day of my life. And now here we are! We are overjoyed to be spending the start of our forever with you all and couldn’t be more honored to have everyone to celebrate with in October. Cheers to us and cheers to you all!
