Don't expect to open a tab - pay for each drink as you order. It's fast, simple, and very efficient when it's your round!

Almost all places accept apple pay and card (taxis, pubs, restaurants, shops) but it's always helpful to carry small amounts of cash.

U.S. Customs Happens in Dublin - Plan Ahead!

When flying home to the U.S. from Dublin, you'll go through U.S. Customs and Border Protection before your gate. That means: 1. Irish airport security 2. U.S. Customs screening 3. Second round of U.S. flight specific security Give yourself at least 2 hours before departure, especially on peak travel days.

Cars drive on the LEFT side and roundabouts are everywhere. Through the drive from Dublin Airport to Belfast is not too different from our American highways (other than only being two lanes wide) in the countryside/backroads and cities, roads are narrow and locals drive confidently. If you're unsure, consider taxis, trains, or buses and enjoy the ride.

May in Belfast is generally mild and pleasantly spring-like, with daytime temperatures usually ranging from 50–64°F (10–18°C). You can expect longer daylight hours, occasional sunshine, and scattered showers, so layers and a light waterproof jacket are recommended.

Irish Sayings You Might Hear

"What's the craic?" - "What's going on?/How are you?" "Craics 90!" - "Having a good time." Or if someone asks you you can reply "Ohhh ayyeeee" "What a bout ya?" - Same thing as whats the craic "Grand" - Depending on tone could mean "All is good" or "Could be better" "Chips" - You know this one..... for when you want to order Fries "Bin or Rubbish" - Trash "Fair play / Deadly / Class" - Great "Eejit" - "Idiot" can also have 'buck' before it to exaggerate "Catch yourself on" - Don't be silly The one that always gets Jessie - "Side Salad" on a menu does not mean a few bits of lettuce and veg. It's half a meal with a combination of items from the restaurants kitchen. Could include; coleslaw, noodles, rice, potato salad, lettuce, cucumber, pickled onions....you name it!
