How We Met

Dylan and I knew of one another about a year before we finally met in person. Our mutual friends thought we'd be a great match as we shared so many common interests, but they couldn't quite convince us (okay, maybe just me), to give it a shot. Fast forward to summer 2018 where I went to one of Dylan's softball games to scope him out. It must of been his impeccable style and athleticism that caught my eye because a few weeks later I finally agreed to give him my number. We quickly bonded over our love for the Packers and us both having a dog named Jordy, so we set a date for Monday night at Onesto, an Italian restaurant in the Third Ward. I was downtown Milwaukee celebrating my birthday a couple days prior and Dylan and I had been texting all day and he couldn’t resist my invitation to meet me that night. Dylan convinced his friends to go to the hottest bar in Milwaukee, The Harp, where they quickly realized his ulterior motive. Dylan spotted me amidst a dark and crowded bar and the chemistry was immediate. We spent most of the night dancing, followed by a brunch date Sunday morning and a homemade steak dinner Sunday night. Our long awaited official first date still happened the next day at Onesto, where we'd meet again in the future to celebrate a milestone in our relationship.

He Popped The Question

Morgan and I planned a trip back home to celebrate Thanksgiving with our families, but I had also been planning a proposal for months. Morgan would give me a hard time as I was not working much in 2020, but that time was not being spent wasted. I spent my days calling friends, family and changing numbers in my phone so she wouldn’t get suspicious. Prior to moving to Denver, we enjoyed many days exploring Milwaukee's bars and restaurants so we planned a day date doing just that before seeing our families. We land early in Milwaukee and I immediately go to the bathroom to unpack the ring and collect myself. The time between arriving at the airport to when the proposal happened was only about 30 minutes but it felt like hours. The whole time I’m panicking thinking am I acting weird? Is the ring showing? We begin to drive downtown and at no point does Morgan ask me where we're going, so I'm starting to get nervous that she knows something is up. As I try to put my perfectly planned speech into action I blubber some generic lines telling her how much I love her. It's not until we are steps away from Onesto, where we had our first date, that she finally realizes what's happening. Her surprise and shock were obvious by the first words out of her mouth. Are you serious? Are you for real? Over and over again… Finally I think she said "of course!" and we celebrated the afternoon at our favorite Milwaukee establishments. The surprises were not over though as Morgan was very excited to show friends and family her new bling. Little did she know everyone already knew and we were able to gather our closest friends and family to shower her with love over our new engagement!
