Our First Date

February 3, 2019

Our first date started with coffee from Dunkin Donuts. Zack picked me up in his "mint" 1996 Explorer and proceeded to apologize for how dirty the inside was. I just remember thinking, "Is he joking...?" At that moment, I made a mental note not to let him see the inside of my car anytime soon... After coffee, we spent time talking and getting to know each other. We talked about hobbies, family, work, etc. and next thing I know, 4 hours had passed sitting on my living room couch. I had to go to a Superbowl party at my dad's house that evening and Zack offered to help get the meatballs in the crockpot. As he was putting the BBQ sauce in, the bottle exploded and BBQ sauce went all over the kitchen and both of us! Of course, he apologized, and we both laughed through the mess. At that moment I knew it would be something we'd write about one day. We live this moment over and over again every time we hear Tim McGraw's, "Something Like That." Written by the Bride

Our Engagement

"Magical...Stressful"

A simple trip to Universal, a college graduation present, or so she thought. I remember her wondering why I was stressing so much about planning this, why it was taking so long. "I just want it to be right" I replied. Years of thinking, months of saving, weeks of planning, days (or minutes) of packing. Two long days of anxiety about losing the ring that I've been clenching in my pocket since the morning we left. "I have to pop this question soon, or the suspense is going to ruin this trip for me" I kept repeating in my head. Day one in the park, this is the prime location! She is in her Harry Potter WONDERLAND, she would love it. "The timing just doesn't feel right, people everywhere, no room to breathe or think". Every attraction we visit is one metal detector closer to busting my big secret. "I need to take a step back from the pressure of making this relate to the park and find something memorable." Driving back to our resort the first evening I was scrambling to come up with a plan B that would still live up to the expectation. Whilst driving, from about a mile away I spotted the largest Ferris wheel I think I've ever seen in my life. I immediately got to researching the location while she got ready (of course that bought me all the time I needed). A slight "wrong turn" on our way to dinner let me drive by and take a peek. I couldn't see the top of this thing, and the thought of sitting in a glass box and popping this question sounded terrifying. "Perfect!" I told myself. I'll be so scared of the heights, that proposing will "be easy". Dinner goes by in an instant, my meal MIGHT HAVE lasted a whole minute, and were back in the car. "Let's take a pit stop on the way back to our room and check this place out." A nice little boardwalk feel, brick walkways, shops and restaurants, and casually the largest Ferris wheel on the eastern side of the United States. Two tickets to ride purchased, and I got lucky that the ride took pictures at the top and filmed the entire ride! Going up, we weren't even halfway up the side and I was already looking straight down at the five story car park we came from. A little past halfway, and I feel like I could see across the state of Florida. At this point my hands won't stop sweating, my mouth won't stop talking, and I don't know if its the height or the anxiety going. "Zack, would you just stop talking for one minute?" she shouted out. Alright Zack, its game time, I told myself. I conned her into getting a picture, with her back to me. As I "fumbled" to hand her my phone, and before she could get the camera open, I dropped down (to that lonely knee) and pulled THE ring out of my pocket. Off of that ride we walked, two new people starting a whole new journey in life together. Written by the Groom
