Noted local artists and a robust permanent collection make this museum a "must see" while you are in the area. As an added perk, the cafe, Gertrude's, is simply a treat and also offers al fresco dining under a newly-constructed garden canopy. The museum is located directly adjacent to the Johns Hopkins University undergraduate campus.
The Peabody Conservatory is not only Thomas' graduate school alma mater, but also the oldest conservatory of music in the United States! (Not sure if we got the order of importance correct there....) Of particular note is the original art collection lovingly curated by George Peabody himself as well as the magnificent George Peabody library (separately linked below). The library is widely recognized as one of the most beautiful libraries in the United States and was some of the inspiration for the library in Disney's Beauty and the Beast.
This is definitely a favorite! Check out their schedule (https://aqua.org/visit/daily-schedule) for info about Dolphin shows, etc. It's a great time! Since this is a federal facility, proof of vaccination is currently required.
This museum presents "self-made" artists that may lack a trained background. This was one of our early dates and makes for a great time. Our pro tip: bring picnic supplies and snag a spot on Federal Hill (just across the street) to watch the ships in the harbor and get an overall view of the city.
