Mark traveled to Poland in 2022 for work and officially moved into a travel role at work in January of 2024. After talking about Sara tagging along on a work trip to Poland for several months, it was officially going to happen. In March of 2024, everything worked out and 10 days in Poland was booked. While Mark worked during the week, Sara got to explore Katowice. On Friday, we left Katowice for Wroclaw and got to spend the rest of the day exploring a new city together. Or sort of together, Sara kept running off taking pictures of all the gnomes! Saturday, March 23rd, we traveled up to Poznan, Poland. Poznan is where Sara's dad's side is from and had always been a bucket list item. We had planned to attend a croissant class to learn about a local delicacy, the St. Martin's Croissant. Wanting to have time to explore the city, we got there early and spent the early afternoon walking around the square and visiting local shops. After the class, Mark mentioned that he wanted to find a place in the city where we could be alone to take pictures. Luckily, the Royal Castle is right next to the city square and we were able to find a space. While Mark set up the tripod, Sara, oblivious to what was going on, took in the castle. Once ready for pictures, Mark turned and explained that his phone was actually recording, because this was a moment we were going to want to remember. He got down on one knee and asked Sara to marry him. Sara barely let him finish getting the question out before saying yes! As Mark said, "It's where your family began, and now it's where ours began." 💕
