Josh’s Mom Tami is a great wing women :) I worked with Tami for a number of years. I remember when I first started working at the Children’s Hospital and Tami saying “oh you could date my son”. Then again when we were on our annual girls work camping trip, we were joking around with another coworker of who would be a better mother-in-law. Later that year, I asked Tami if she thought her son would be interested. Tami gave Josh my number and the rest is history! I remember Josh saying one time “I never have thought arranged marriages would work but I guess maybe parents do know best”
Josh and I were in Breckenridge, Colorado with his parents and family friends. Breckenridge is one of my favorite places to ski and this was Josh’s first time skiing in Colorado. We had been skiing all day, enjoying the long runs, fresh snow and amazing Colorado views. On the determined last run of the day, Josh said on the way up the lift “lets take this next run nice and slow and enjoy the way down together”. When we got off the lift, Jay, Josh’s dad said “I’m going to race Caleb down the hill”. I had a sinking feeling in my stomach, thinking ahh I don’t know if that’s a good idea. Especially since we already had someone in the group break their clavicle a few runs earlier. And of course as Josh and I were making our way down the mountain slowly we see up ahead Jay laying in the middle of the run and Caleb flagging us down. Crap! I knew that wasn’t a good idea!!!! Jay said it was his knee and he couldn’t get up. Josh started helping me get my skis off, as I’m thinking in my head, okay we need to call ski patrol to get him down. Then, Josh grabs my shoulders and turns me around, one of my ski poles falls over nearly or maybe even hitting Jay in the head. I was thinking what are you doing!?....Josh precedes to say “Holly, I love you”. To which I say “I love you too but your dad is hurt right now”. Josh: “That doesn’t matter” Me: confused...... Josh continues with an amazing speech, grabs for something from the inside of his coat and then proceeds to get down on one knee to ask me to marry him!!! I of course said YES and after saying a few I love yous to Josh, turn to Jay and ask if he is actually hurt?.....He of course was not but was recording this all including a couple swear words I let slip in excitement and surprise. Josh and I got back on our skis and continued to make our way down the mountain where Tami, Josh’s mom, was waiting at the base of the hill. It was a perfect proposal-on the middle of a mountain in Colorado with snow falling down all around us!
