It honestly doesn't matter where you go on our coast, we have beautiful white sandy beaches you'll fall in love with. If you like having people around, you'll love Gulf Shores. If you like things a little more quiet and to yourself, try visiting Fort Morgan or Dauphin Island.
Seriously fun adventure for the family. There's nothing like gliding over swamp to go and hunt down and see some gators. Robert treated my mother and I to this tour and we had a blast! Also, the tour guides are extremely knowledgeable about our bay's ecosystem. Would you believe there's never been a gator attack in our delta. EVER in history.
99.5% of the time we go kitesurfing, we go to Dauphin Island. It is such an amazing spot. Any kind of South wind at the golf course/Pirate's Bar & Grill is the best. Great place to eat too! If you make the trip over to Dauphin Island, visit the cove. And while in Pirate's Bar & Grill, get the Royal Red Shrimps. You want to taste the best of our Gulf? That's the stuff!
This place will blow you away. Coca Cola's creator, Walter Bellingrath was one of the first Coca-Cola bottlers in the Southeast. Walter and Bessie, his wife, lived here back in the 1950's. When Walter's Bessie passed away, Walter finished the gardens for his wife. Walter then donated the property to the county for tours. It is a massive 900 acres across the Fowl River. This is well worth the $22 to walk these endless gardens. Bring a lunch and good walking shoes. I can't recommend this place more! It's a little away from our wedding location in Fort Morgan. But worth the visit if you have time!
We have been to Lulu's several times. You will fall in love with the atmosphere, there's no doubt. Lulu Buffet is Jimmy Buffet's sister (It's 5 O'clock Somewhere.). She's the real cook in the family! Our Bookstore, Page and Palette has hosted her and her new cookbooks now several times, she's got passion for cooking! She's got the booze in the blender and seafood-a-cookin' a storm! Lulu's is an open restaurant, meaning no walls, with a beautiful view of the river that flows down the Gulf Shores.
Looking for a nice dinner or easy lunch? Go to Southwood Kitchen, your taste spuds with thank you. Literally anything you get here is delicious. We recommend the Fried Brussel Sprouts and BBQ Shrimp. It will take you out of this world! Then treat yourself to one of their specialty cocktails, the Rustic Mule. (Robert and I's personal favorite. ) You can't go wrong with this place!
Want to take a walk on one of the most scenic places for the sunset? Fairhope has a fishing pier that is 1/4th mile's walk. On that pier is an excellent restaurant, an ice cream shack with frozen delights, and several people with their famillies fishing. It is a sight for sore eyes. Right over from the pier is the Fairhope beach. We have ducks & geese that will walk right up to you. Be careful, people have taught them how to get right up on your shoulder if you let them! You will notice we have side walks everywhere in Fairhope. It is a great place to stop and stretch your legs. Fairhope has lots to off in the ways of food, entertainment, boutique shopping, and art galleries. Don't forget to stop by Page & Palette and tell them what GREAT marketing they have! (Hint: That's me!)
This place, alongside Another Broken Egg Cafe is the place to go for breakfast/brunch. The food is exquisite! The coffee is roasted right inside of their location. They have an extensive bakery display and a full menu in addition. My personal favorite!
Taste Fairhope Brews! If you are a fan of good beer, you'll love this place. Very often they will have live music. A very fun place to go with family for a tasty brew! You are allowed to bring in food or have it delivered to the brewery. They will usually have a local food truck parked outside with fantastic food!
