House Or Rental
We rented a 7-bedroom, 6,000 sq ft house that sleeps 20 in Carmel Valley for the weekend of the wedding reserved for immediate family. We have the house for 4 nights Friday, October 4- Tuesday, October 8. The house has a large open living room with vaulted ceilings and a stone fireplace. The gourmet kitchen and dining area is highlighted by the great fireplace, and pizza oven. The house features a patio and backyard with a pool and hot tub. There is a separate charming guest house that includes a bedroom, bath and office. The house is in Carmel Valley, a quiet village in the mountains 11 miles south of Carmel-by-the-Sea and is known for its 19 wineries and tasting rooms.
Flight
Guests can fly into any three of these airports and will need to rent a car. Monterey is the closest airport to Carmel Valley but also the most expensive from my research. There are reasonable flights into San Francisco and San Jose for around $300 or even less. The drive from San Fran airport to Carmel Valley is approx. 1 hr 50 min. San Jose is slightly closer, with a 1 hr 25 min drive.
Hotel
This is an affordable option in very close proximity to the rental house that has very good ratings on Trip Advisor (voted #1 of 5 B&Bs/Inns in Carmel Valley). Amenities include: Heated outdoor pool, free on-site parking, free continental breakfast, and walking distance to wine tasting, dining & shopping. Note, there is no block of rooms , guests will need to book online.
Travel Note
Guests that are not immediate family or staying in rental house will need to book their own lodging . For ease of logistics and affordability, we are recommending Hidden Valley Inn https://visithiddenvalleyinn.com/ located in Carmel Valley, very near the rental house. For a high-end option, check out Bernardus Lodge: https://www.bernarduslodge.com. Of course, if you prefer to stay seaside in Carmel by the Sea or camp in Big Sur, go for it- whatever suits your fancy! There are so many unique lodging options in the area from "glamping" to cabin rentals, to cozy cottages. I'd also highly recommend checking out VRBO or AirBnB for a ton of great (and in many cases more affordable), unique rental options. For reference, our rental house is near Garland Ranch Regional Park or Corkscrew Cafe. I've done a ton of research so happy to help you all individually with recommendations, etc.
