We’re getting married!

It was a true whirlwind romance: Nicole had only been living in Chicago for a couple weeks during a summer internship before she and Matt met one fateful Thursday on the rooftop of the Robey Hotel in Wicker Park. They had drinks and talked music and movies and journalism and law. Marty demanded they have ice cream, which Nicole felt was indulgent. They left to play pool at Flat Iron, and, to this day, Matt claims he let Nicole win (his one character flaw). That summer was filled with dinners, boats, and one sparsely attended Game of Thrones burlesque show. It wasn’t long until they said their first I love yous. Summer faded to fall and kicked off what felt like 1,000 years of long distance when Nic went back to law school. That time was full of fast weekends and slow weekdays, as well as one massively delayed Amtrak ride after the next. Before long, Nic graduated and moved into Matt’s 600-square-foot one-bedroom apartment, just in time for the pandemic to kick off and usher in endless working from home. A new apartment (with multiple rooms!), a round of new jobs, roughly 35 different hairstyles, one Westie mix, and hundreds of cherished memories later, they are ready to make their love legal and to vow to one another—with you as a witness—to be Nic and Marty forever.
