“We do” Part II

We were friends before Liam was born! We met in Alaska in our early 20s. Although just friends at the time, Kyle remembers Autumn would call herself a Freebird, singing to Leonard Skinnard with feathers in her hair while Kyle took her around Alaska on some pretty cool off-roading adventures. One of Autumn and Kyle’s favorite early memories was the Summer of 2010, riding his Hayabusa, they took a road trip on the infamous 2-lane Seward highway (125-mile stretch with mountains on one side and ocean on the other) from Anchorage to the classic Alaskan town called Seward. Another one of Kyle's favorite early memories with Autumn was trips to Taco Bell where she was always having to ask for more than two handfuls of hot sauce packets. For Kyle, it was her laugh and those peacock earrings that made him smile. If you didn’t already know, Liam is our one and only son. Although Kyle would have preferred to tie the knot back then, we learned to accept that we were very young and so we focused on growing up and developing better qualities as individuals and as parents separately. So we never married or continued the relationship. We had been able to maintain a friendship & co-parent Liam for the past 11 years with the occasional ups and downs, but despite the differences, we succeeded in making things work because we both loved Liam very much. When both of our paths took some drastic twists and turns it opened a door that made us curious to become more than just friends. One of Autumn's most recent and memorable times spent with Kyle and Liam together is when they took a family vacation in one of her favorite places in the US - SoCal ( Southern California). “We were able to work together with Liam more closely. Seeing Kyle's love for Liam and desire to assist me with challenges I dealt with on my own that really put a beat back in my heart I didn't think I’d have.”One of Kyles's recent favorite memories with Autumn was her willingness to come out during the holidays and help watch Liam so he could focus on getting his house and a new job in order. That was when Kyle started to think about what things could be like with the three of us. Once that visit was over we did not talk as much, we let imagination and butterflies die down to wait and see where this road would take us. “Autumn didn’t want to pressure me into anything. We took one day at a time until it clicked for both of us, that as a family we are stronger together than apart. Liam needs both of us.” So at first, we looked for homes to be first-time neighbors in the beautiful state of California and among other new places like Colorado, Texas, Spain, and the Canary Islands; all the while we had the opportunity to draw closer, and that made us start thinking of what life could be like permanently with the 3 of us. Kyle said he always knew if that door opened, he would take it. Autumn, on the other hand, struggled with that door and tried to keep her heart closed. But Kyle knew that about her since they were younger when she claimed to be that 20-year-old Freebird. Over the years, observing each other, that was all about to change. Autumn watched Kyle at a distance be the father he is to Liam on a more personal level, and with the care that was shown to her, she began to open her heart to him. Now, together we work to be united in raising Liam, taking past mistakes and learning from them by applying love and respect towards each other and continuing to raise our Liam together. While Autumn and Liam continue to build their faith and relationship with Jehovah God, Kyle has continued to show support to them on that path and makes great efforts to bond with them through their faith. Due to respect for beliefs, we tied the knot in a private setting but now we would love for you to join us in a few days of celebration, sharing our vows, dinner, dancing, and activities in our new hometown of Colorado.
