How We Met

His and Her Versions:

His Version: It was late, probably 11:15pm, in the evening on Dec. 12, 2017. I was laying on the couch swiping through Tinder when I came across the profile of Ashley. She had a great smile and her profile was simple and to the point and caught my eye. I swiped right and we matched. I didn't want to wait until the morning so I sent a message saying hi and hoping it wasn't too late. We chatted for about half and hour and then went to bed. The rest is history Her Version: Tyler and I both met on the new way of dating these days .... Tinder! Yes we both swiped right, but he was first to message. We both were coming out of our divorces and were able to bond on that, along with our love of the outdoors and sports. We had a chance to do things differently in this relationship. We knew what our worth was, what we liked and didn't like about our last marriages, and how we wanted to do things differently personally and together. We have been able to stay true to ourselves and continue to build on that together and within our family.

Our First Date

His and Her Versions:

His Version: It was Dec 22, 2017. We agreed to meet at Rancho Grande in Chesapeake for dinner. I ended up talking with Abby and Aiden before our date and our convo ran into the time I needed to leave. I texted Ashley and let her know I was going to be late, hoping she wouldn't bail on me. I eventually got to dinner about 15-20 minutes late. When I pulled into the parking lot she knew it was me right away. I parked behind her and got out. I smiled on the inside at the first site of her in person. We hugged and headed in for dinner. I didn't say much and enough to keep her. My hands were sweating the whole time and I kept wiping them on my pants. I paid for dinner with all cash and we went on our way. I couldn't wait until I got home so I texted her that I had a good night and enjoyed it. Her Version: We talked for a few weeks via text and over the phone before we met in person. Tyler picked the restaurant, Mexican, but when it was about 20 minutes before meeting he let me know he was going to be late. I thought he was going to bail and not show up. I was already there early because that's well me early to everything. I thought well here is my first meeting ever of an online date and I was about to be stood up. What the hell! Well, I was not stood up. He showed up and happened to park right next to me. We got out and both said wow you are real! We hugged and then went in to eat. About 3 hours later we said our goodbyes after a great time of chatting and connecting further. Then at the first traffic light, I got a text from Tyler, which breaks all the rules of dating.... or what I thought the dating rules were. But he couldn't resist telling me how he had a great time.

Today...

Life in our blended family is a joyful (and sometimes wonderfully chaotic) adventure! With four amazing kids, there's never a dull moment—from school runs and snack negotiations to belly laughs and bedtime snuggles. We’re all about making memories, whether that’s weekend camping trips under the stars, beach and pool days full of splashing and sunshine, or cozy nights at home filled with board games and blanket forts. We’ve found that the best moments often come in the messiest, silliest, most unexpected ways. When we’re not doing family life, we love sneaking in some grown-up fun too—like playing adult league sports (yes, we’re still competitive!), planning our next getaway, or just soaking in quiet moments together after the kids are asleep. Blending our lives and building our family has been a journey full of love, growth, and gratitude. We can't wait to officially celebrate with the people who have supported us along the way. Here’s to love, laughter, and a lifetime of adventure—together with our crew.
