FAQs

Colorado is known for many things: The enchanting Rocky Mountains, stunning natural beauty, a rich history of indigenous culture, of course, and its mile-high elevation. We're here to help you navigate the area while having a great time.
Question

Are kids invited to the weekend events?

Answer

Outside of nieces and nephews, the weekend festivities will be adults-only. We appreciate your understanding and hope you'll still be able to join us!

Question

How far is Boulder from the airport?

Answer

The city of Boulder is about 40 - 45 minutes from the Denver International Airport, depending on traffic and the time of day. A great resource for all the transportation options to Boulder: www.bouldercoloradousa.com/meetings-and-groups/start-planning/meeting-transportation An easy and cost-effective airport shuttle service: www.supershuttle.com Shuttle service to/from Denver International Airport and Boulder County: www.eightblackairportshuttle.com Let us know if you need help with any arrangements!

Question

What are your Covid-19 protocols?

Answer

Self-testing: We have a few medically vulnerable guests celebrating with us, so we strongly encourage people to self-test for COVID before joining us. We will have tests available for anyone to pick up and use at Galey Cottage. Masks: We support everyone making their own decisions around choosing to mask or not and ask that everyone respect each other's decisions. We will have plenty of masks on hand and available if you choose to wear one at any point throughout the weekend. Our hope is this will not be an issue or concern, and we will do our best to keep each of you safe and comfortable. If you need anything from us in this regard, we are always available.

Question

Any wedding day details we should be aware of?

Answer

The wedding festivities will begin with us joining everyone for cocktail hour from 4:00 - 5:00ish pm, before a (hopefully) seamless segue into a short and sweet ceremony. We are excited to start the celebration together with you before we get married. From there we will have dinner, dancing, and more. We are looking forward to being together with everyone right from the start of the celebration! For more information on the Thursday through Sunday events, please check out the 'Schedule' tab.

Question

Will there be activities outside of the Friday to Sunday schedule?

Answer

There are ample places to visit and things to do in the Boulder area. We've listed a few in the 'Things To Do' tab and will continue to share more as we get closer to August. We'd love to spend time together before and after the Friday to Sunday schedule so please join as much or as little as you're able. It's safe to say hikes, museums, great food, breweries, and parks will be on the list! Feel free to reach out to us at any time to get a better sense of what we'll be doing up until the wedding and following. We'd love for you to arrive early and stay late with us!

Question

Should I rent a car?

Answer

Our weekend activities are pretty easy to get to no matter where you choose to stay within Boulder, whether that's walking distance or a quick drive away with a rideshare app. That being said, if you'd like to do some extra exploring, renting a car is a great choice. RTD is another excellent resource if you want to explore public transportation options: www.app.rtd-denver.com If you've decided to reserve a room or cottage at Chautauqua for the weekend, we will have transportation available to get you to and from The Riverside on Saturday. Note that parking at Chautauqua on the weekends is extremely limited. Another option is the Park-to-Park shuttle! This shuttle runs every 15 minutes from 8 AM – 8 PM. Reach out to us for more information or feel free to inquire at the Chautauqua administration office or online.

Question

Are we really going to be a mile up?

Answer

Sure are! Some have trouble adjusting to the elevation and it's possible you'll get dehydrated a bit easier. We have some great tips for our sea-level friends and family. Drink lots of water, more than you'd think. As Jenny's dad would say, "HYDRATE!" Walking, hiking, and even dancing can be more tiring than usual until you adjust to the higher elevation. Take good care of yourself so you can be ready to hit the dance floor! Make sure you have lotion and sunscreen handy, as higher altitudes tend to be environments for dry skin and sunburns.

Question

Is marijuana legal in Colorado?

Answer

Marijuana is recreationally legal here. Please consider the following if you're not a regular partaker: Edibles are most likely more powerful than you think. It's best to start low and go slow. It's likely folks have varying opinions and comfort levels when it comes to marijuana, so if you're partaking please be respectful. www.colorado.com/articles/staying-right-side-marijuana-laws www.colorado.com/articles/8-tips-safer-cannabis-consumption

Question

What are some fun facts about Boulder?

Answer

Boulder was called the Happiest City in the U.S. by National Geographic and has a repeated rating as the nation's best city for well-being by a Gallup study. The exterior of a house located in Boulder was used as the characters' home in the well-known "Mork & Mindy" television show. It is now a private residence. Boulder has more used bookstores per capita than any other city in the country. Check out the largest, independent bookstore in the area: Boulder Book Store - with 20,000 sq. feet, more than 100,000 titles and three floors! Boulder's going to the dogs! Visitor counts to Boulder Mountain Parks found a ratio of 1 dog to every 5 visitors. Every year, Boulder Mountain Parks core area receives 1.8 million visits. If that many people made a human chain, it would stretch from Boulder, Colorado, to New York City!
