Abbey graduated from NIU with a degree in nursing. She passed her boards and is currently working as an RN at Ascension Mercy Hospital in Aurora on their Tele Cardiac unit. She has been keeping busy in her free time, working on a few projects around their new home and planning all different kinds of renovations. Good thing Spencer is a patient man with the Meyer way of leaving sawdust everywhere!

Spencer Smith

Groom

Spencer graduated from Alma College with a B.A. in Marketing. He is currently working as an account manager at a digital marketing firm. While working from home, he enjoys being a dad to two adorable puppies, Peaches and Pumpkin. In his free time, Spencer enjoys being around his friends and family, traveling, and fishing in his backyard pond.

Claire Meyer

Maid of Honor

Claire and Abbey have been best friends since Claire's birth, obviously. Claire and Abbey spend most of their time together and FaceTime constantly. Claire attends NIU as a double major in Political Science and Accounting with future plans of attending law school. She is currently a CA for an NIU apartment building, and is also the president of her rugby team. Claire spends most of her free time caring for her puppy, Penny, as well as organizing Abbey's house.

Nick Smith

Best Man

Nick is the older and only brother of the groom. He also happens to be Spencer's favorite brother! Nick and Spencer spent their childhood playing baseball in the backyard and sharing a video game controller. Nick currently works as a CPA at Ernst and Young. He recently moved to Iowa City, IA, with his fiancé, Grace, and their rambunctious golden-doodle, Butter.

Faith Hammond

Faith and Abbey have been best friends ever since they started working at Delnor together. Due to Faith's quick-witted humor and her ability to match Abbey's sarcasm, they became close very quickly. Faith is married to Luke, who is also Spencer's groomsman. Faith is also an RN and graduated from Waubonsee Community College with her associate of science in nursing. She is currently working in the ICU at the same hospital as Abbey. Faith and Abbey FaceTime daily and are constantly plotting schemes to surprise their boys.

Luke Hammond

Groomsman

Luke and Spencer have been best friends ever since they met by pure chance at Old Town Pour House. Or maybe it was because their significant others are best friends and forced them to go to dinner. Luke spends his time working on projects for clients as a contractor. His most frequent client tends to be be his wife, Faith! He works with a youth group at his church and is constantly playing some sort of sport. Whether it's volleyball or basketball, Luke is usually recovering from some sort of ankle injury and not listening to his nurse wife.

Amanda Deetjen

Amanda and Abbey have known each other since fourth grade and have been best friends ever since! They spent all of junior high and high school together and then went on to visit colleges together. Amanda attended Ball State University in Indiana where she, her mom, and Abbey first discussed Abbey's possible attendance to the same university for nursing! She went on to graduate with a degree in fashion merchandising and is working on pursuing her career in that field. She currently lives in Tennessee with her husband, Robert. Amanda and Abbey both tend to spend their time trying to convince their boys that it's okay to spend their paychecks every week at Crumbl cookies — what's the harm!?

Ethan Meyer

Brother of the bride, Ethan is currently in school working toward a degree at NIU. He spends his time working as a mechanic at a renowned auto shop. Abbey frequently drops off her neglected Subaru for Ethan to fix because, for some reason, there is always a new problem with it. Is it her or the car? The world will never know. Ethan remains the funniest kid of the family, and you can always find him somewhere laughing or making someone laugh.

Adrienne Gennell

Adrienne and Abbey became friends in nursing school together at NIU where they struggled and cried together on the way to school every morning. Their shared obsession for a Starbucks sandwich and cold brew fueled their energy to graduate together! Adrienne currently works at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove on their Step Down ICU unit as an RN. She spends her free time getting over the night shift sleepies and being a dog mom to her beautiful German Shepard, October.

Jack Hennessy

Groomsman

Jack has been good friends with Spencer since high school. He is currently finishing his degree at University of Pittsburgh. When he is not gushing over his two beautiful cats, Arthur and Maya, he enjoys exploring new music and being outdoors. Spencer and Jack are known for their camping and fishing adventures, which usually involve half-planned meals, sketchy hikes, and a scramble to correct their wrongly booked campsite dates. Jack and Spencer do manage to survive in the woods, but we're not really sure how.

Alexa Wunderlich

From the south side of Naperville, we have Alexa. Abbey's soon to be Sister in Law is dating Joe. She graduated from University of Iowa in 2021 majoring in Human Physiology with minors in Business Administration and Chemistry. She also just graduated from Midwestern University with a Masters of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies, to be a PA-C. She started working in an Ortho clinic and spends her days putting back together the Midwest, one knee at a time!

Joe Meyer

Brother of the bride, Joe just recently moved back to Naperville, leasing his own apartment with his beautiful Australian Shepard, Loki. He works as a computer programmer from home and enjoys spending his free time going out with his friends. Fun fact: Growing up, Abbey and Joe were the best of friends. Abbey could not pronounce his name and started calling him "Joefish." To this day, this is still what he is called. They now spend their time together going on double dates and sharing tips and tricks about how to navigate adulthood.

Sydney Meluch

Sydney and Abbey have been friends since high school. They sat together in English class where they obsessed over her possible date with Derek (who has been her boyfriend for the last seven years) and how excited she was! Sydney and Abbey also worked at the former YMCA Downtown Naperville after school, where they were lifeguards together. Sydney graduated from Kendall College in Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts degree, focus in photography. She currently works at Pinot's Palette in Downtown Naperville where Faith and Abbey like to spend most their time drinking and painting!

Matt Bixler

Matt and Spencer first met on their U-12 baseball team and have been great friends ever since. He is currently earning certifications in two different IT specialties. Matt currently spends lots of time experimenting in the kitchen. He loves to cook and can make great craft cocktails among other concoctions; he dreams of opening his own fleet of food trucks in the future. Matt enjoys spending his free time with friends, cracking jokes, and fishing.

Nikki Shaw

Nikki and Abbey have been best friends ever since high school when they both sat at the same table junior year in Kyle Girups's chemistry class. Naturally, they had major chemistry! Nikki graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Journalism and English on the Publishing Track. She currently works as an editor while living in an apartment in Chicago, living the city life. She spends her free time modeling, writing, partying, and basically managing to balance everything. She's a woman of wonder. You name it — Nikki does it!
