In 2013, I (Yodit) attended a conference called Net Impact (the organization Dwight worked for at that time). I was in a workshop session he was overseeing. I noticed him because he was tall and very handsome. (Sorry--not sorry for being so shallow lol) I (Dwight) noticed her from the back of the room because she was both the smallest person in her group and the leader of her group, keeping folks engaged. Fast forward to the conference's closing reception where I happened to see her surrounded by a herd of men (apparently she was popular lol). I did the right thing and saved her by shooing them away to the after party and introducing myself to her. Come to find out, she lived in New Jersey where I had family! I LinkedIn messaged her and didn't hear back from her for weeks! Finally we exchanged a few messages and then I Facebook friended her (slick move right?). In her posts I saw the heart of a woman whose faith meant more to her than any earthly person or possession. Now I was really intrigued. That's when I (Yodit) found out he was a Believer as well and we kept in touch infrequently. The next year, leading up to the same annual conference, he reached out to me and asked if I would be attending. I hadn't planned on it but when he wrote, "I would love to sit down and talk with you about your faith and call," I bought those tickets so fast, I'm sure even he was surprised. At that conference, we had the chance to talk for hours. All of a sudden I was crushin' (something I didn't know I was capable of lol) While in Minneapolis I (Dwight) felt like she embodied everything I had imagined in a wife. We've talked almost everyday since then as our bond has grown. On June 23 2016, trusting the Lord's timing, we felt peace to move further. I (Dwight) would have proposed right then but I knew we were still learning each other & praying for God's guidance. 10 months later, I proposed on April 22 2017, the exact day she gave her life to the Lord 18 years before.
