“Bears, Beets, Battlestar Galactica”... Ashley’s online posting that pulled at Jason’s heartstrings. These were the words on Ashley’s t-shirt in one of her pictures on her OkCupid dating profile. It was a reference to a Dwight Schrute and Jim Halpert rivalry from “The Office.” Jason commented on October 30, 2017… the first day after Ashley had taken a year-long dating hiatus. The next night on Halloween, they began talking. Remember, remember the 5th of November… they met on a grey, overcast Sunday. Jason knew Ashley had studied Art and invited her to The Barnes Foundation… an Impressionist Art Museum. Before entering, they climbed the Rocky Steps at The Philadelphia Museum of Art. Their relationship began to blossom at “The Gates of Hell” at The Rodin Museum. At The Barnes, Jason did his best to keep up with all the art dialouge… he managed to do pretty well and enjoyed all that Ashley taught him. Jason liked the landscapes best. After the museum, they wandered through town hand in hand. At every stop light, Jason was working up his courage to give Ashley her first kiss on a random Philadelphia sidewalk. They made it to Reading Terminal Market and shared a meal. They awkwardly ate at a picnic table outside of The Convention Center where the chairs were chained to the table. But, it was a blast none the less. They didn’t want the date to end… so, Jason drove them back to his place, singing all the way in his red Chevy Cobalt! Ashley had mentioned she loved singing in the car in her profile and Jason delivered a Rock Star performance! Back at Jason’s home… he took Ashley up to the rooftop and together they admired the beautiful Philly skyline twinkling at twilight. The most impressive part was Jason’s playfulness and creativity in coming up with a game…a skill he still has today! He suggested that they throw ice cubes from their water glasses into the trash cans in the alley, four stories beneath them. Some friendly competition really made the night memorable! It was at that moment, Ashley knew Jason was something special! On subsequent dates, Jason helped Ashley parallel park her car in Manayunk… a notoriously difficult neighborhood for parking due to hills and crowds. They also went to The King of Prussia Mall where Ashley temporarily misplaced her car… By their 5th date… only 10 days later, the two were celebrating Jason’s 31st birthday… jamming out at The Foundry with “The Demos”... a band formed by Jason’s buddies from Rochester, NY. He earned major brownie points for this… Ashley thought Jason was so cool! Ashley’s sister, Lauren, joined them and took their first ever picture together that night. After a couple months of dating, Jason invited Ashley to meet his family at his grandmother's home for Christmas in Massachusetts. They’ve been adventuring together ever since…
