Hey, it's me, Jen! Rob tells this story much better than I do, but I will do my best! Rob and I met in a songwriting session that he wasn't originally scheduled to be in. I was supposed to write with my friend and co-writer, Rhyan Shirley, and she called me about 20 minutes before our write asking if she can bring two more writers with her. She was in a demo session with them right before our write (Rob being one of them and our other friend, Cooper,) and both of their writes coincidentally cancelled. I don't actually think it was a coincidence, I think it was God. I warned Rhyan that I wasn't prepared for other guests, so I was in workout clothes and had no makeup on. We all wrote a country song for me that day, and I remember thinking, "well I definitely know Rob is single" because he kept saying he's a "bachelor til the rapture." We definitely thought each other were attractive (he even thought I was without makeup on!), but kept it professional. He messaged me on Instagram afterwards, and I was so afraid he was going to ask me out on a date so I didn't open it or respond for a few hours. I was hanging out with Kennedy (one of my matron of honors) that night and told her about him, that he messaged me, and that I was afraid to open it. She asked, "well is he cute? Would you go on a date with him?" And I said, "well, yeah!" So I finally opened it and long story short, he asked me to write again and I was bummed he didn't ask me on a date. A couple weeks later we got together to write. I invited a friend to join us so it wasn't just Rob and me since I didn't know him well yet, but she cancelled five minutes before the write. I was so nervous that it was going to be just Rob and me, but it ended up being the best outcome. We wrote a song in about an hour, and then seven hours later we were still hanging out, laughing, and talking. I felt like I could get to know him forever (and I get to now!!!) He would call me crazy, but I basically fell in love with him that day. We then started hanging out often with each others friends, and technically our first date was with my mom at a botanical garden (Cheekwood) when she was in town. Rob was pretty clueless at first and wasn't picking up on my not so subtle hints of liking him, so I had to grab his face to tell him I was into him. I also kissed him first. Then a few months later, we officially started dating on August 5, 2019. Fun facts: -I had another friend, Baylee, who wanted to set me up with one of her and her husband's friends back in October of 2018. I told her I wasn't ready to date yet, but when Rob and I started dating almost a year later, I found out she tried to set me up with Rob! -My dad most likely flew Rob to and/or from Sydney, Australia on United Airlines on the 747 when Rob was in college (19-23 years old.)
