The exact moment Scott and Meredith met went undocumented - Scott claims it was at a local soccer field when they were 8 or 9 years old, Meredith claims she had no clue who he was…Today, when people ask how they met, they tend to give a simple, “We grew up in the same hometown and played for the same soccer club.” But the story of their relationship has many fun layers nearly two decades long… The stars first aligned when Meredith and Scott attended a sleepaway soccer camp at Lake Forest College the summer before fifth grade in 2005, which started a 5-year budding romance. The following year, they both attended Prairie Middle School and played soccer for FC Barrington as they pined for each other, but Meredith was not allowed to date yet. Finally in spring 2009, Scott asked Meredith to the 8th grade formal dance and the summer that followed they went on their first date. Too uncomfortable to talk in person, they planned their date over email (fancyfoot94@comcast.net <3 sbn9sports@aim.com), seeing Transformers 2 at the Deer Park Mall. Their respective parents picked them up and dropped them off separately, and Meredith’s good friends, Patrick and Will Knorring crashed the date just like any good brotherly figures would. Meredith and Scott kept in touch as they navigated the halls as freshmen at Barrington High School. Spending more time together both playing school basketball, Scott took his shot and finally asked Meredith “out.” The relationship unfortunately did not last long - the world was not ready for Scott and Meredith. As the year progressed, Meredith realized a mistake had been made and began her pursuit to win Scott back. Fall came around, and after attending the homecoming dance with different dates, the two finally realized they were supposed to be together and began dating on October 16th, 2010.
Scott saved Meredith from making a horrible mistake again as the two decided to do long distance while Scott attended Washington University in St. Louis and Meredith attended Northwestern University. After graduation, the two moved to Chicago to start their professional careers. In the midst of COVID craziness three years later, they moved to Philadelphia as Meredith earned her MBA at the University of Pennsylvania and Scott embraced the world of remote work. After eleven years of dating, Scott had had enough and decided it was time to pop the question. He planned and executed, with the help of some supportive friends and family, a beautiful holiday proposal along Lake Michigan. On December 18th, 2021, Meredith was completely surprised as Scott proposed life together forever. He dropped down on one knee overlooking the Chicago skyline from one of their favorite spots in the city. The surprise continued as they celebrated afterwards with friends and family. In October 2023, after thirteen years together almost to the date, Meredith and Scott plan to celebrate their love for each other surrounded by their wonderful friends and family with an unforgettable weekend in Naples, Florida. Meredith grew up traveling to Southwest Florida for family vacations, and as Scott became one of the family over the years, it became one of their favorite places to travel together. They are over the moon to get to share their tropical paradise with all their loved ones on their wedding weekend! ~~~ We are so incredibly thankful for our friends and family who have followed along and supported our love story for all these years! We would not be the people we are today without you and appreciate your love in our lives. Love, Meredith & Scott
