Getting to Bald Head Island
We’re so grateful that you’re making the trip to Bald Head Island, NC, to celebrate our special day in this very special place. There are many different ways you can reach the island and plenty of places to stay once you arrive. Here’s everything you need to know.
Flight
By plane
The closest airport to Bald Head Island is Wilmington International Airport (ILM), about 45 minutes from Deep Point Marina, where the ferry to Bald Head Island departs. Delta and American Airlines fly to and from ILM daily. Once you arrive at the airport, you can take an Uber, Lyft, or taxi to the Bald Head Island ferry at Deep Point Marina. The Transporter and Pyramids Taxi are two transportation companies offering rides that you can schedule ahead of time. The second closest airport is Myrtle Beach International (MYR), about 1.5 hours from Deep Point Marina. Myrtle beach airlines include Allegiant, American, Avelo, Breeze, Delta, Frontier, Southwest, Spirit, Sun Country and United.
Travel Note
By Ferry
Deep Point Marina is where you will get on a ferry to be transported to Bald Head Island. There are no cars on the island - only golf carts! You'll need to leave your vehicle parked in a secure lot on the mainland at Deep Point Marina in the town of Southport. Parking is $13/day. Please visit the Bald Head Island website to view the ferry schedule, purchase ferry tickets and find out how to pack and label your luggage. We recommend you purchase ferry tickets as soon as you have your housing secured for the weekend. You'll need to arrange for your arrival trip as well as your departure trip. When you purchase ferry tickets online, your tickets will be emailed and/or texted to your cell phone number. We also recommend you make tram reservations at this time - the website will prompt you to do so. You'll need to take a tram from the ferry landing to your accommodations - any golf carts that come with your rental will be waiting for you at the home you've rented. Plan to arrive at the ferry terminal at least 30 minutes before your planned departure time to allow enough time to drop off your luggage, park your vehicle and get to the loading zone. If you do not pre-purchase ferry tickets online, you may purchase at the counter upon your arrival to Deep Point Marina.
Train
By Tram
Upon arriving to the island, you will hop on a tram that will take you to your weekend accommodations. Tram rides can be reserved through the app when you purchase your tickets and we recommend doing this as soon as you have your housing for the weekend booked. We also suggest booking your tram rides for your departure as soon as you're able. All tram rides are included with the price of a ferry ticket. Since your rental golf cart will already be at your house, a tram is required for you to get between your accommodations on the island and the ferry terminal! Rental Car
By Golf Cart
There are no cars on the island so you’ll get around exclusively by golf cart. All rental homes will have golf carts included as part of your stay. Typically homes will come with two golf carts each, but if you wish to supplement with additional carts, rentals are available at Cary Cart Company, located within walking distance from the ferry drop-off on Bald Head Island. Where to Stay
There are no hotels on Bald Head Island but there are plenty of vacation rental homes and a couple of B&B's. Each rental home comes with a golf cart (or two) at no additional cost. Below is a list of rental agencies on the island that you can use to find on-island rentals. We suggest you book your accommodations as soon as you know that you are able to join us for our wedding, as homes will book up quickly! Also, when booking, make sure you mention you are coming for the Norton/Duclos wedding as some agencies offer a discounted rate for weddings!
