Jason and Mackenzie met for the first time on a camping trip to Dillon Beach in 2010 with their families, including Jason's brother Brendan. Mackenzie brought her best friend Julianne and the four kids spent the weekend hanging out and exploring the dunes!

Jason, 14 yrs old, and Mackenzie, 13 yrs old, started "dating" in 2012 after the two families spent New Years Eve at the Reed's cabin. The two went on their first date to the movies for Mackenzie's birthday. Unfortunately, the romance ended after 4 months... But the good Lord had other plans 6 years later.

In 2014, the families took their first of many family trips together to Maui, Hawaii! The trip was full of surfing, beaching, sunscreen, yummy food, and movies. One night, the Slattery boys, Mackenzie, and Mackenzie's mom, Kristine, watched Shrek while eating ice cream bars in the Reed's room. It is one memory the families still think back on and laugh about.

The next family adventure took the two families to Santa Cruz! Jason and Mackenzie and their families rented a beach house in 2015 with a beach front view. The families biked to Capitola, went surfing in the cold waters, and played at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk.

In 2016, the two families banded together again for another family vacation, this time to San Diego. The families rented a beach house on the beach and got to visit the San Diego Zoo. One of the best memories from that trip was the two dads and the boys staying up until 2 am playing corn hole outside the house.

Mackenzie and Jason rekindled the flame in July of 2018 when the two started hanging out again. The two spent the weekend line dancing at Stoney's and boating on Folsom Lake before going on their first official date to the River Cats game.

In June of 2019, Mackenzie graduated from Cal Poly SLO with Jason by her side and the couple's experience with long distance came to an end! The couple, both of their families, Mackenzie's grandparents, and Mackenzie's college friends spent the weekend of graduation partying it up at a rented beach house in Pismo right on the dunes.

June of 2021, Jason graduated the Sac PD police academy with Mackenzie by his side. Graduating from the academy got Jason one step closer to his dream career of being a deputy for Placer County, which he is now doing!

Mackenzie graduated from nursing school in January of 2022 with Jason by her side again! Shortly after graduation, Mackenzie got hired with Sutter Roseville Medical center, her dream hospital.

On May 5th, 2022, Jason asked Mackenzie to marry him! Jason took Mackenzie on a hike out in Foresthill where they "ran" into Jason's friend Kelton who happened to be mountain bike riding since the trail is near his house. Jason asked Kelton to take their photo and that's when Jason got down on one knee.

After Jason proposed and Mackenzie said "yes!!", the two celebrated by going to a River Cats game just as they did on their first date. It was only fitting the two would spend their first night as an engaged couple in the same place they spent their first night as a dating couple.

June 24, 2023 - the day Mackenzie and Jason get hitched! We are so excited to have y'all there celebrating our marriage and supporting us in this wonderful next chapter of our lives.
